Photographer's Note
This is the view from the dock of a Cottage in South Portage bay in Lake of Bays near Huntsville Ontario. I snapped this just as the mist broke for only a few seconds before covering everything again.
****I am looking for help with this photo: I do not consider it finished. I had to do a lot of Noise Reduction on this photo and am looking for other people's advice on where to go next. I have tried increasing contrast and saturation... but does this surrender the subtelty that makes the mist attractive? I would **LOVE** to see a workshop that improves the image.
Some facts about Huntsville taken from the town of Huntsville webpage:
Largest community in the District of Muskoka.
215 km to Toronto via 400/11 corridor.
130 km to North Bay via Hwy 11.
350 Km to Ottawa via Hwy 60 and 418.
Huntsville was named after Captain George Hunt. He arrived in 1869 and settled on the east side of the Muskoka River.
The locks on Brunel Road were constructed in 1877.
The railway arrived in Huntsville in 1886.
Huntsville was incorporated as a village in 1886.
The Muskoka Wood Manufacturing Company, the first hardwood operation started in the late 1800's and still operates today as G.W. Martin Lumber.
In 1971, the Town was amalgamated with its nearby townships which extended its limits to include an area of 68,716 hectares including Arrowhead Provincial Park.

I think that it's a pretty nice shot as is, Josh. The low clouds have a nice contrast against the darl water and the hint of color in the right attracts the viewer into the shot.
Nice work, Mike

Hi Josh.
This is a very nice photograph. You have captured that heavy mist wonderfully. I love that you are open to help, but I quite like this image. The contrast and sharpness are good, and the composition is nice. I especially like that the mist seems to open up for the object in the water and that great color in the sky.
Take care.

This image has great mood, and I like the soft colours and misty atmosphere.
There is a slight tilt to the horizon, which once spotted is impossible to ignore. I also think that the image would benefit from losing some of the water in the foreground. I think this photograph is ideally suited to a panoramic crop. I'll do a WS and see how it looks.
Cheers,
Ben

Bonjour Josh,
this one is truly amazing! It is like the fog is alive and going to swallow everything on its way! Everything is turning monochrome, excepted for that corner on the right who is resisting to the power of the FOG ;D I'm just kidding...sounds like a poor movie scenario!
This is a real good picture, Bravo!

Hi Josh, relax, there's is very little wrong with this image and you have caught the mood perfectly. If there is a weak point, it's in the composition as the platform is placed too close to the centre of the vertical plane - the cropping in the workshop by Ben certainly strengthens the image. The rest is done very, very well. Stephen PS I won't make any Freudian comments about the pink sky ;-)

Bonjour Josh,
il y a un truc que j'aime sur ta photo :
le sujet principal, c'est à dire le radeau, se situe exactement là où il doit se situer , c'est à dire aux deux tiers supérieur droit . Good job .

Hey Josh.
Great photo. Very light and soft tones give the picture a calm mood. It is a typical scene when I think of Muskoka.
