Niagara Falls is a set of massive waterfalls located on the Niagara River, on the border between the United States and Canada. It is the most powerful waterfall in North America and, possibly, the best-known in the world.

The Falls are illuminated nightly from 21:00 until midnight every day of the year.

The Niagara Falls were first illuminated in 1860 to honor the visit of the Prince for Wales.
Illumination of the Falls using electricity first occurred in January, 1879.

Currently a total of 21 xenon lights, each with a 76-centimetre (30 inch) diameter, are used to illuminate the Falls in a rainbow of colors.

Instead of a tripod I had to use a fence – this place is extremely overcrowded, 10 sec. exposure time, ISO 200, 21:55.

An original shot of the falls Alana. It looks like we are looking down into a cauldron!

Well done on managing to keep the camera steady using a fence for that length of time

Brilliant photo Alana, and one that I'm sure will gain a lot of attention from TE. The silky smooth water and misty red replicate that of a volcano and lava. Beautiful shot, and I hope one day I get the opportunity to visit this scene and try what you have done here.

Privet Alana, when I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was a PP work, only after i read your note I see it is "real". This is a very nice capture, good sharpness for a non-tripod 10 sec exposure, and nice filter work. Esthetically, I especially like the red water dust in the left, superb effect!

Cheers
Sasha

Hi,
Impressive, good clarity achived under difficult conditions! I also thought from the thumbnail, that it would be a photoshop pp creation but very pleased to see that it's just a good capture! Thanks.
Dougie.

Great night shot , Compliments , the place the colurs and expecially the moonlight reflected on water are really good .
I also make night shots if you want take a look .

Hello Alana,
fantastic and impressive shot here with excellent timing, great light and wonderful colours. I like how the moonlight enlightened the silky water. Very well done! Compliments and best wishes.

Hi Alana - what a dreamy shot, the lighting and the big moon give it a surreal quality, I wish you had a tripod, that way the lens would have been high enough to avoid the piece of blurry stone at the bottom left.

I swore I would never critique a sunset over Niagara, but this isn't, and the view is breathtaking. Never been there, but now I wish I did.
Thanks for sharing

Looks like a painting. The water looks like it was slowed down with your camera technique.

Hi Alana
Niagara Falls ? It's looks like a lava lake in Hawaï.
Fantastic picture, that's great.

WOW...Just WOW!!
One of the best I have seen of the Niagara falls, yet! Good planning and well kept composition to capture the water, the sky (with the moon) and the lights of northern US. The rising water vapors must have been a real consideration of not to obscure the front element of the lens...
Exposure control is on spot and you can even see through the vapors to the other side of the "U"...
Well done!
A fav!

Quell image incroyable. On dirait un cratère de lave. L'effet de filé sur l'eau la rend lisse et c'est assez génial.

Hi Alana!
Very nice shot from this very known fall! If I had one think to criticize it is the little blue spots around the moon.
Thanks!

wow ..i am just speechless !! really i have nothing to say.....

Great night exposure. It was a smart idea to improvise and use the fence to steady your camera.
