Photographer's Note

Vancouver's harbour at sunrise. This shows the hills and harbour of the city very well, with a series of rising hills looking toward the east. The large birdge is the Second Narrows Bridge, crossing Burrard Inlet (the main harbour) and connecting Vancouver to the north shore of the inlet. Unfortunately, there were no freighters in the inner harbour, but you can see the Seabus, which carries passengers between North Vancouver and downtown.

well Alvin my my oh my! I must congrat you on this scene. I am very impressed with this image quality and the layers of mountians and clouds in this scene. A totally magical moment. I think 10 smileys is about right...amazing scene!

Interesting shot Alvin;

Kind of a sunny yet dreary sunrise. Strange combination. Good amount of detail (especially towards the bridges). The seabus looks more like a statue then a ferry (least it's afloat). Just read in the newspaper last week that the Harbour Linx has close down. Not able to get the same sort of government support as BC Ferries. A shame really as it was a great service, which i would take when Harbour Air was not an option.
Still waiting for some more Port Alberni shots Alvin... ;-)

Hey Alvin. Shooting this on Velvia was a perfect move. It worked its magic on some already great colors. I like how you filled in the sky with the branches above. Good shot Alvin!

Wow, stunning shot of a beautiful sunrise over Vancouver and the harbour. The colours are amazing and the clouds/fog hanging between the hills and mountains is amazing. The way the sky colours reflect on the water is also beautiful. Great shot with lots of details and amazing sharpness, especially since it was scanned! Fantastic work, Alvin!

Love the silhouetted bridge and layered landscape against the clouds and the warm sky. Love the way the tree frames the shot at the top. Beautiful lighting and soft colours. Nice work and thanks for sharing.

Hi Alvin. I was opening this and going "wow". Beautiful framing where all the elements fall into place like a charm, and good layering effect you get from the morning haze still filling portions of the bay. Beautiful moody tonality with the early orange and yellow elements. Greetings from Tokyo.

Hi Alvin - very grim yet interesting atmosphere, the colours suggest Gotham, the sky suggests a nuclear mushroom cloud, refreshingly different.

Hi Alvin, This is simply gorgeous Alvin. What a magical sunrise with those soft and mysterious colours and the sense of mist is announcing the new day. Excellent composition as well with the bridge cutting the canvas in the middle. I also like the mushroom like cloud. A lovely shot that would have worked well without the tree leaves framing the view, but it's a nice inclusion. Sabine

You captured a very beautiful sunrise. The dark foreground is contrasting very nicely with the background. In my opinion this is the one of the best sunrises. Very artistic and poetic.My compliments.Let me add your work to my favorities.

Hello Alvin,

I like this veiw on the harbor. Very good composition with the bridge and clouds on the background. I like the moody colors here and the first sun beams make some nice feelings in my heart as like a hope to the future... a hope that this day will be very beautiful and dark will gone anyway... I think, that here is the perfect framing with the branch of a tree to this composition. Well done, BRAVO!
