Photographer's Note
Hi Folks,
Due to my recent work engagements I am not able to devote as much time to TE as much as I would like to. But I just wanted to let everybody over here know that you guys are very much on my mind... I miss you all :-)
The view that you see in this picture was taken from the CN tower in Toronto. The big highway that you see with the light trails is Gardiner Expressway that runs through the heart of downtown Toronto, and the lake is the Lake Ontario (one of the five great lakes of North America).
For those people who do not know about CN tower, here are two quick facts:
1. It is the tallest free-standing structure on land in the world, at 553.33 metres (1,815.39 feet).
2. The CN Tower attracts over two million visitors annually.
Viewers can also ook at my previous postings of the CN tower over here
If you want to see the view from the Highway, you can also see this photo posted by digi-mom on TE.
I hope everyone is having a a good weekend .... Cheers

Hi Sarju, It is nice to see your new post. Thank you for taking time out to show us this beautiful picture. I enjoy this well composed evening shot at the beautiful "blue hour" to well show the outline of the city as well as the highlight of the bright lights. The diagonal line of the highway is well placed in this picture. I was at the top of CN tower before. However, I did not have the chance to see the beautiful evening scenery. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend, and in case you don't show up before the next weekend, Have a nice week :D

Great shot of this wonderful skyline. Amazing shot of an amazing place. Beautiful colors and beautiful composition.
I had read about CN tower before but now I know that CN tower is really 'TALL".
Nicely done shot.

Ciaoi Sarju!!! TE is a good website for retired people like me!! It takes a lot of time.
I like a lot your Toronto view, so sharp: 15 seconds, really? Gardiner Expressway is a good diagonal in the composition.
I saw also Michelle's shot: interesting to see both together. Toronto must be a nicy vivid town, maybe one day I come there since I have also friends working in the university.
But now I have other plans for next May....
Ciao!!! Thank you!! Have a great Sunday!! Livia

Definitely a good viewpoint and time of day, and considering that you had to shoot through that super glass window at the top of the tower, I think the clarity turned out pretty well. Even the big dark construction area is not too distracting at this hour. I hope you are doing well - I know what you mean about not getting the time to spend on hobbies as we would like to.

Hi Sarju,
Good use of the large format to achieve high impact with this great shot. As Wes has noted, the blue hour is a great time to capture evening scenes and you have chosen the time carefully. There are so many details visible in the scene; a superb DOF. A great capture, Sarju. Good to see you posting when you can.

Hi Sarju - I've no more :-) left today but I just could.t wait to comment on this, I LOVE it, how often do we see a nighttime aereal, and it's great that there is blue left in the sky and lake, 1000 bravos (I finally scanned my CN tower shots but there's nothing there as spectatcular as this one)

Hi Sarju!
I will tell you that I'm quite happy that you don't post more often! I would have a hard time to critique your pictures since I don't have that much time either for TE! :( Hmmm! I feel a bit dizzy looking at this picture. I am a little scared of heights :( but don't worry, it is still a pleasure to look at this picture. You took it during the blue hour and it is very good, the red lights goes very well with it. And the big blue patch made by the Lake Ontario is good as well, letting some space in the picture. I also like the way the highway make a diagonal line. I did a little workshop, hope it does not bother you.

Hi Sarju. That's awesome the way the 15 second exposure turned out. The street lights don't seem to be blooming yet there lots of movement from the cars in the street. I don't see any noise either. Very nicely done Sarju!

Hi Sarju
A place I know very well indeed. And I have the exact, same picture but in the day! Would you believe that! I like your evening treatment - sharp, colourful and well exposed. The dome/statium is not in the shot, that would look spectacular too, I suspect. Overall, an excellent shot. Well done.

Cheers mate!
What a gem! No wonder you dare to go up that terribly high tower..
The detail is perfect and the best feature, in my opinion, are the long snaking expressways that separate and then merge again. The blue light is stunning, albeit somewhat noisy. I did a noise reduction workshop. I hope you like it!
I like this! Great one!
Cheers,

Hi Sarju,
I really know what do you mean, about not having enough time for TE...
This is a splendid night shot over the city of Toronto. I love views from above and this tower is definately one of the places I would love to visit. The blue tones of the 'blue' hour enhance the image and the POV is great, with the sight of the skyscrapers downthere (it's increadible - it looks like you are flying!), the seashore and lights as far as the see goes. Lucky you to have two ws. I love the one made by Claire, with a cleaner and sharper image. But I guess, you didn't have time to see it yet. Anyway, I wish you are fine and hope to see you soon.
Cheers,
Ricardo

Hi Sarju,
Obviously a 1-class PoV from the top of the CNT, the expressway traces a nice diagonal that gives depth to the photo and is further strengthened by the lights of the cars on it, shooting time is fine too as it allows to see many details and lights, lots of micro contrasts, well done !
Have a nice day,

Hi Sarju,
Very nice and quite informative photo. I my humble opinion, these types of photos are what TE is all about. I think it would have worked better if you shot it a bit earlier in the evening, as there are too many distracting dark areas. On the tehnical side, it is well exposed and focused.
Compliments,
Goran

Hi sarju,
I love this colorful capture of a citylandscape made in this beautiful contrasting effect. Blue and orange are opposite colors in the "color circle". Vincent van Gogh was aware about it and created his art out of this knowledge to lift his paintings up to a very lively and vivid impression.
To my eye the bottom of the motif feels too croped, I should like very much to see more of the buildings , a quadratic overall view would be just perfect.
Greetings Silja
frankthebluedog (23) 2006-06-27 14:14
Very good composition and i like that you show the flow of traffic. only thing...maybe too bright. in a night scene i like too see some pure black. this one's maybe overexposed. but hell, you're trying to show the details of the city. in that case, it's perfect... now that i look at it again, you can even see the curve of the earth. that makes me very excited.
