Photographer’s Note
In July 1968, almost 3,000 hectares of forest went up in smoke in the Vermilion pass fire. This natural disaster has made aware that fire is not just a curse to fight but a natural element to manage. Thorough information is to be found on the excellent website of Parks Canada Agency.
My picture shows the situation 30 years later. The thirty years old trees are not as high as their charred ancestors yet but the regeneration took place naturally.
