Photographer’s Note
Well after 27 days of rain the sun came out for the afternoon. But according to the weather records we still had 2mm of rain. So today more rain again and more in the forcast this week.
I am beginning a series this week on photos taken yesterday at Peg Lake with Mt Woodside which is what you see here.
With a touch of snow on top, and the sunlight shining on the lower section of the mountian, I caught this with my 50mm lens. If you look closely there is good detail in the trees at the base of the mountian. A much closer look in the original will show some trucks parked along the shore too.
I usually end up racing to find scenes like this. But with this photo it started with all clouds on the mountian and then the sun opened up for me. What a thrill to see the reflections on the river too. Enjoy the scene. More from this place will follow this week. The best photos happen, when the sun comes out...

Hi Paul,
The contrasts are absolutely beautiful, especially the contrast between the gold/orange and the green trees. The sudden shining sun makes a beautiful light and creates nice reflections in the water.

I like your layered composition here, and the landscape reminds me of spring rather than winter. Too bad the sun didn't shine over the entire forest. A polarizing filter could have eliminated part of the thin haze in the lower part of the image, you need to get one of these for your great landscape shots.

As a photographer I envy you the superb environment you live in Paul, not to mention the magnificent light you seem to find everywhere you turn! This is yet another scene of awe-inspiring beauty that you give us. (I would maybe saturate the colours just a tiny fraction.)

Hi Paul. You know if we had that much rain around us the water would be completly brown! You seem to be rather fortunate in that regard. You sure had a magical light, however short lived it might have been. Beautiful shot Paul.

Hello Paul,
Yes, I heard about the bad weather in the West Coast, with rain and rain and rain again! Here, the thermometer pass from +5 Celsius to -20 and it's supposed to be +2 again soon. And we have to live with those extremes in so few days! Well, I'm happy you finally had some sun. And it seem that you took the opportunity to make pictures! Great for us! I like a lot that you took the picture as the sun was shining on the top of the mountain, so that there is that white part that catch the eye. I also like the different colors of the two ridges with trees that are in the foreground and there reflection in the water. Very well done!

Nice shot Paul;
the colors have come out really well. Not overdone, but very natural.
I was just reading in the The Province today that Vancouver has just gone through 28 straight days of rain!?!?! You guys get much of it?
A nice shot Paul, which makes it even tougher that I have to point out that the horizon looks crooked in this one too...
Either that- or I think I need to have my eyes done! hahahaha...
All the best Paul,

Bonjour Paul,
A very good work.
Have a good day.
Daniel.

Dear Paul,
I enjoy again of this wonderful picture, the reflections beneath, in middle green colours of trees, but indeed the snow above the mountains almost in the heaven!
My compliments for this!

Hi Paul, This is indeed an eye-catching picture with wonderful light, contrast and reflections. The low clouds make us to imaging how the mountain peak looks like and the how tall the mountain would be. Beautiful scenery and an excellent catch. Now, I really see what you have been waiting for during those rainy days.

Paul,
WOW, what an amazing photo. I don't know what to say, but my jaw just dropped to the ground! ;) I love the different colors of this photo with the top of the mountains in the clouds. The shadow over the mountain range and then the foreground in the sun is absolutely fantastic. The different shades of light makes this photo so spectacular! Great work!

Paul, I was sure you (and others) will be out after all this rain, I can see your expression waited not in vain. Haven't been to this area for a long time. The colours on this photo are just a delight and are coupled with very good composition. High exposure surely did the right thing.

Hi PAul,
To be in the right place at the right time is often the key to a nice photo, and this one is a good example, the combination of the lighting with the variety of color tones and the attractive reflection is very beautiful, I like it.

Hi Paul,
An outstanding capture. I am amazed at the amount of colour you obtained for this time of year. As you state, when the sun comes out after a rain, there is often a fabulous lighting effect. The grown tones of the trees on the left are nicely balanced by the silhouetted headland on the right. The different patterns of light, shadow and reflection are mesmerizing. This is a very special shot, Paul. Congratulations.

Hi Paul,
Very good photo with splendid colours, a very beautiful reflection and wonderful colours. This really show the beauty of the Canadian nature. It's maybe a little bit oversharpened (in the background by the mountains), but apart from that: fantastic photo!

A truly lovely composition Paul. The rich but dull colouring is restful and awe-inspiring at the same time. You've obviously mastered photographing in bad weather....and that's a hurdle I have yet to overcome.

Hi Paul,
this is just superb, it's like a painting. Wonderfully sharp, colourful with fantastic light and from a great perspective. I love the bit of disturbance in the water at the front giving way to smooth water behind showing the reflection of the trees. A really fine image Paul, well done.

I missed this one when you posted it about a year ago, Paul, so I'm glad I caught it on your home page. The light in this image is just incredible - the way in which the sun is highlighting the trees in the middle distance and the top of the mountain provides a beautiful effect. Your exposure is perfect and sharpness is superb. Definitely one of your best landscapes. Cheers . . . David
