Photographer’s Note
The time 13:18 hrs.
The canadian icebreaker CGGS Amundsen at the far right is breaking the ice opening the way to the MV BBC Bulgaria as they are leaving from the Grande-Anse Terminal at Port Saguenay. They are now doing a large U-turn to the right in order to proceed toward the sea. This manoeuvre avoid both vessels to proceed astern and limiting risk of damages to the vulnerable propellers.
Light snow started a few minutes ago reducing the visibility.
Her next call was Trois-Rivières. For your guidance, she sailed this morning with her new cargo load at 0640 from here for the Caribbeans Sea..... ( Honduras and Venezuela ) The lucky guys.....
Have a nice Day!
Robert

This somehow looks like a toy ship, hehe :-) A nice scene of daily life - at least, for those involved in shipping industry. I like the composition - the happy colours of the Bulgarian cargo against the (dirty) icy underground. Love the water trail that leads our eye all the way to the icebreaker. Interesting note! Thanks for sharing, Robert!

Very nice picture.
Initially, I thought that putting the cargo ship in the NW part of the picture could be critized then I saw that the lower half is the ice pack and that the cargo is just following the path opened by the ice breaker... So your framing was carefully chosen !
All the best you,
Emmanuel

Interesting shot and still quite sharp considering the snow falling. Cheers for sharing

wonderful photographer's note robert.
i like the framing of this photo because you've got both ships and i can still see the trail in the ice that marks the passage of the second ship.
the haziness of the shot highlights the colours of the bulgaria and the detail in the broken ice is very nice.
wonderful shot.

Hi Robert
Wow! Great shot! It's a view that here at the more warm places of our planet can't easy often. Great framing, idea and execution. TFS this beauty!

This series of shots is really excellent Robert and shows the conditions that Seamen have to work in at this time of year.Again a good composition and I think the light snowfall has softened the shot enough to give that feel of the ships rededing into the distance.
