Photographer’s Note
This is a photo of a barn yard on Prest Road taken today while snowing. It is the same scene where John C captured this fall. After some careful study on image quality I have been convinced for certain that shooting in raw format is the best my 300D can produce. The snow softens the scene by a little but not by much as you can see. Also the frame. I have a link for anyon einterested on how to do this in photoshop. Finally news about my surgery is posted in my Into. Cheers to all and thanks for all who stopped b to say hello.

Hello Paul
Just learn about your operation.
Did you know that the operation you just went through was first performed here in Montreal.
I see that everything went well for you.
The emergency usually go through the system fast,it is the electives that gets sideline.
As for the photo, the composition is good and the cloudy day makes for a softer scene.
You are lucky to have a photographer friend close by,to share some time together in the field
Take care
Charles

Hi Paul. Well you sure got back quicker than I thought you would. I hope everything is well with you. I am a recent convert to raw myself for the simple reason that the DxO software that I now use on every shot seamlessly will convert it for me plus when you shoot in raw the software can amazingly recover some blown highlights. I tried it and it actually worked. No blown highlights here with the snow for you though. Welcome back Paul and I hope you back at 100% ASAP.

Great composition, Paul, very balanced. Snow goes well with weathered wood. (I don't get to take such shots, living in So. Calif.!) Nice frame you made for the image, too, it fits well with the color scheme.
I gather from others' comments that you had an operation--hope your recovery is speedy!
Regards, Ken.

Hi Paul, welcome back. I hope that you are all right with you now.
A nice capture of the fresh snow and the snow flacks on the air. Nice composition and a little chilly of abandonment.

Hola Paul.
I have been going to your intro but there isn't anything written about your operation, because your pronto discharge from the hospital seems that everything came out very well. I'm very glad that you are back with us again.
Your picture is very good with the snow falling and the the beautiful landscape.
Great composition and good DOF.
Very well done.

Hi Paul,
I'm so very happy to see you here! I hope everything is fine. But, it seems that you can make goooooood picture as before! That's a good sign! I was not supposed to do TE for the rest of the day (nor computer), but I had a little look at TE and saw your post. I cannot wait to write a little note here. Especially since a really like that moody picture. We had the same kind of weather today in Montrdal, but I did not have a nice country around! ;) Very good sharpness and point of view here. I like the path, with those two trails. And the snow coming down. Good one Paul! By the way, I tried raw at the very beginning when I bought my camera and I adopted that format! That does miracles sometimes especially for me who still so often do a bad setting when shooting (I shoot completly manual).
Welcome back! Claire

Hi Paul,
Since we got to learn about your surgery, I'm happy to see you up and posting !
A moody photo where I like the still falling snow flakes and the outlined perspective of the snowy path, the barn being a fairly attractive element to fill the space to the left of the path, it's a beautiful composition.
I wish you a good recovery,
Jean-Yves

Good morning, Paul,
I recognized the barn right away from John's picture. This is just a charming snow scene and well composed. The white sky is suited to the snowfall, but I'm wondering if there isn't perhaps a bit too much of it. I would have cropped it down an inch, to just above the tree. Otherwise, lovely... (great frame! :))

Hi Paul, wonderful shot! The road leading into the scene works very well, taking us right up to the main subjects, the barn and tree. I agree with you about shooting in RAW - I do it all the time, even though it takes longer in post processing, it's worth it because the quality is better. Let me know when you are in the hospital and I'll come to visit. Good luck!

Hi Paul
interesting comparison you have made here ... I like the addition of the barren tree in your photo that was sort of camouflaged in John's photo.
very nice ... thanks for the share.
Good to see you active ...
cheers .... sarju

"Walking in a winter wonderland...."
Hey Paul,
Another nice shot from the first snow. How did you manage to keep the camera dry- umbrella? I do recognize this barn from some previous shots. I recognize the missing boards near the top peak of the barn. Interesting to see a slightly different angle and during a different time of the year.
I'm in Singapore this Christmas for the first time in years- and seeing this is REALLY MAKING ME HOMESICK! Hahahaha...
Well done Paul. If we don't chat between now and when you go into Vancouver- all the best with the surgery, and a speedy recovery.
Cheers buddy,
- Dan

Hi Paul
Excellent graphism, accentuated by the snow. Superb sharpness lighting & tonal range. I like the subtle colors. Good work!

Really excellant shot, Paul. This landscape is very mush like it is here in central Massachusetts. In vact we got snow here last night. The shot is a classic. the leading diagonals of the road bringing the viewer into the scene. I think that the gray in the sky actually works very well here because it adds a little "chill" to the scene.
