Photographer’s Note

Dusk approaches along the Fraser River near Mission. The placid scene is deceiving. The river is very deep and swirling with silt. The churning waters have cascaded through many canyons to reach the broad flat valley of rich alluvial soil. The ocean here is about seventy kilometres away. The Fraser Valley comprises some 2.5 million hectares of farmland.

Wonderful lighting, John!
This time of the day allways has the best sunlight and you really know how to capture it.
This landscape is simply marvellous with fantastic colours. I love the contrast between the dark foreground in the shadow, with the rest of the image. The light colour of the river is very beautiful and the detail of the moon above the tree is nicely positioned. Well done, again!

Hola John.
Good composition with shadows and light, the colours are great and the mountains give you a nice perspective a depth. The colours of the lake and trees were very well captured.
Good natural frame and DOF. The moon give a nice touch to your picture.

Good morning John,
clear winter sky approaches. Spectecular views go into the distance; snow is 'coming' down from the mountains, still green gras can be seen and the last leaves are on the trees.
Full of contrasts and colors, even the moon was integrated.
What focal length you had?
Have a good start for the week.

Nice shot John,

I like the composition of the fall trees on this side of the river acting to pull together the whole composition. Nice dusting of the snow on the mountains, with a well defined snow line visible on the left hand side of the range. Good amount of detail, and very little noise- did you get your camera fixed John?

This is a beautiful image John. The late light really enhances the scene, particularly on the snow-capped mountains. The whole image is then topped by the inclusion of the rising moon.

Hi John - wow, stunning light and awe inspiring mountainscape, the river surface looks frozen. It's so hard to get a large moon in wide landscape shots, it looks great here, though I wish it was a bit higher to avoid touching the tree.

Still you have managed to capture the light very well (For my personal preferences I would have liked to see more saturation of colours in this one

Encore une très belle vue d'un paysage canadien. Comme quoi, il faut se méfier de l'eau qui dort, la nature peut se révéler dangereuse sous des aspects débonnaires.

WOW...the only thing missing from this photo is a cowhand on horseback gazing at the river.

The sunset colors are lovely and you did a fine job of capturing the moon.

Beautiful piece of land here. Composition is brilliant with shaded forground and amazingly enlighted peaks in perfect sharpness. Dusk light is fantastic and clarity of the air allowed You to capture also full moon.
