This photo of the sea otter was taken at the Vancouver Aquarium.

You can see the heavy layer of fur in this photo. The sea otter does not have a layer of blubber to keep them warm they depend on their fur to provide an insulating layer of air between them and their bodies. They have approximately 800 million fur fibers in their coats which provides a very effective insulating layer.
