Photographer’s Note
This particular steam engine was built in Sweden in 1907. It is the only operating European steam engine in Canada and is also one of the last operating excursion steam engine in Canada. The train travels a 64 km round trip from Hull to Wakefield Quebec through the Gatineau park.
The engine has a maximum speed of 120 km/h, however, it will generally travel at 15- 25 km per hour for the trip from Hull to Wakefield. The power output is the equivalent of 1000 horsepower. The engine weighs a total of 93 Tons and can pull up to 700 tons capacity.
