Photographer’s Note
There is no story here... it is a hot summer evening at the Teriyaki Experience--a little fastfood place, tiny as it would be in Japan perhaps, with every inch of the available space used up in a calming, simple fashion. The chef and his assistant are preparing shrimp yakisoba. Whenever I go there, I always admire their devotion to their work, her genuine kindness and cheer.
I liked the way she was enveloped in the steam. Later I desaturated the shot and added a bit of grain this time...

Hi Sarolta: Their faces and the composition remind me to the all chinesse posters made after the II world war two. Theres a difference, here everything is B&W and there was in colors. Take care, very interesting photo.
Reading more carefully the note I find out they are japanesse... What to doˇ

Beautiful BW conversion and a lovely compo. The way your subjects are 'arranged' is great, with the lady being in the steam... The slight blur is equally great. Well done... Bala

Hi Sarolta, I knew it was your again, the great b/w... plus from Canada gave you away.
How can you say these is no story here? There is a story in everything, sometimes we create the story, sometimes the story is unavoidable and presents itself to us. the cooks look so happy, they have been working together for a long time, in the same smokey kitchen, he doesn't even have to say what he needs, she knows it already.

Wow you're bringing Japan to us via Ottawa! Beautiful shot which has, let me be precise here, the atmosphere of the classic Ozu movies such as "Tokyo story". There is a gentleness here, such a contentment with making Teriyaki so far away from grouchy, rude salaryman, I can't tell you!
Bravo, Sarolta!
