Maligne Lake is the largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies. Ringed by snow-and-ice-capped mountains, the 22 km long lake stretches past serene Spirit Island right to the melt-water channels of Coronet Glacier. An open forest of lodgepole pine and spruce, home of moose, caribou and Harlequin Ducks and many other types of wildlife surround visitors at the north end of the lake. Hiking and, in winter, cross-country skiing trails abound making this a popular retreat at all times of the year.
Maligne Lake was originally known as "Chaba Imne" or Beaver Lake by the native tribes who lived near Jasper. In 1907 Mary Schaeffer, a wealthy Quaker from Philadelphia, learned of the mysterious lake. Following a map obtained from Samson Beaver, a Stoney tribesman, Mary found the lake and later wrote about her adventures, making the area a popular tourist attraction in years to follow.
One of the most popular pictures in the Canadian Rockies is the image of Spirit Island in the middle of Maligne Lake. The island is 14 kilometres up-lake and there is no road or trail access. Tour boats or private, non-motorized craft are the only means of reaching Spirit Island.
On this lake we just rent a conoe for one hour... I didn't had time enought to go at the Spirit Island.
Here, it the view from the bar table where I remind to have eat a good ice cream after canoe... and I was interrupted by another member of my travel group who told me there was something very interesting not far away. I will post the pic of that tommorow...

What a gorgeous landscape! I like the border of flowers along the bottom of the photo. Your DOF is REALLY good here. Well done.

Great composition, and splendid colors, Fred. Like Linda wrote, your DOF is right on here. I like those nice details in the foreground, especially the boat house. Marvelous work again.

Que de détails surprenants. Le tapis de fleurs au premier plan donne une belle profondeur a la photo et pas seulement le lac est mis en valeur mais tout ce qui l’entoure. La lumière est bonne elle donne une bonne clarté .Bravo Fred

Wow ! Sharpness 100% DOF 100% Colours 100%Compositon 80% The picture is really striking in depth and sharpness not a blur with vivid colours ,the only part where it lacks something is for me is the composition There are too many flowers infront ,they attract too much attention. The trees also ,the one in the middle and if those on the left were not so tall.A lot of if I know you can't cut them...I hope I ahve may be given you something to work on.

Very sharp, clear & bright coloured shot of a stunning landscape!
I would have cropped though, just to avoid the cabine, and I think there is a slight (optical?) tilt.
I tryed a WS to illustrate my words.

Toujours aussi beau mais je me demande si la maison a droite ne dérange pas un petit peu sinon la composition est plutot formidable comme les couleurs .

Another stunning mountain from you Rockyboy...
The flowers in the foreground, the boat house on the left, the forest on the right and obviously this beautiful mountain in the background... Everything is perfect, very well done.

Marvelous landscape and picture. The variocoloured flowers are just perfect to make a wonderful base for the magnificient view on the lake and on the snowy mountain. The great clearness makes the pic exellent.

The perfect postcard! Beautiful colors...
Your technique here is very good, very good sharpness and I like the angle. Very good note too. Looking forward to seeing your photo tomorrow.

Another shot to take you right back to mid summer which is very nice this time of year ;-) For me the flower border at the bottom really makes this pic. Only minor is the boat house, particularly the bold writing on the roof.
