Photographer’s Note

August 3, 2005
The Peyto lake hase ofen been shown on TE. It is located just after the Bow summit when you drive from Banff to Jasper. It is a slpendid lake. After all the picture of it that I have seen, it was evident that I have to present you something different. It is why I show you this panorama, with the full lake, the glacier on the left and the Patterson Montain (3197 m) that bord is on the North.

Amazing - just amazing - you did a very fine job here giving us this lovely view, I like the fine colours and sharpness as well.

Superbe ! Le point de vue est excellent et la vue claire et profonde, quant a la couleur du lac elle fait rever, mais bon Alpes ou Rockies, on peut voir aussi des teintes similaires par chez nous, ce qui n'enleve rien a la beaute de ce coin.
C'est un assemblage ou un recadrage ?

Hi Jacques. Excellent take indeed; I love to see Peyto Lake in a panoramic version, and you even got a subtle reflection on its surface which I think is quite rare. The large version is outstanding in its amount of detail and the technique with which you stitched it. Also nice to have some of the spectators included in the foreground on the fine summer day. Very nice, thanks. On my recent trip in the 2nd half of September, I walked up to Peyto Lake through a forest covered in fresh snow and it looked quite different ;)

wow! Lorsqu'on clique sur l'image, on reçoit ce magnifique paysage en pleine figure sans avoir le temps de s'y préparer!! Excellent point de vue et travail de collage. La composition et l'exposition sont parfaites, et le lieu propice au rêve.

Superb clarity here, Jacques! The color of the water is amazing. I like the sweeping view in this photo, and the placement of water, mountain and surroundings. Nice panorama!

La beauté est un miracle de l'instant dit-on ! mais quel instant ! C'est tout simplement stupéfiant de pouvoir contempler un tel spectacle. Sachons préserver la nature. Grâce à vous Jacques, nous pouvons apprécier ces "morceaux" de paradis sur terre.

Fantasitc shot. You don't often see Peyto in panarama but you did an excellent job of it. Wonderful colors too. I also like that you got a couple people in the shot, it really brings it all to scale.

You don't say how many shots you stitched together but you have done a superb job. The curved sweep from the glacier and right round the lake makes this a wonderful composition and the people are an added bonus to put some scale to the image. The detail in the larger version is stunning.

Again a splendid presentation, Jacques, and definitely different in showing us the 'total' picture. In this aspect your large version panorama is outstanding and flawless - so rich in details, thoroughly composed (I like the spectators in lower right corner) and technically outstanding. The color of the lake is very special and well rendered in your image - it's almost like 'being there'. Very well done!
