Photographer’s Note
On Sept 18 I took this photo from Whatcom Rd trying to capture this foggy sunrise. It was taken the very same day of my previous posting Barns in the Fog. This view shows a band of fog in the distance againest the mountains which we call the Cascades.
I have been trying to figure the best method of taking photos in fog. I also took quite a few photos and found the best method of correcting the exposure in the dark and bright sections is through curves in Photoshop. One frustration I found in this photo was taken at 400 ISO setting. That is the reason for the noise on the bottom field section. Darn it!
I have posted a photo from this same place on May 28th entitled Light of Dawn. What a huge difference from where the sun came up. It would be interesting to shoot this same place in December and record a compass reading. When you take photos throughout the seasons you start to notice these things. It helps in planning your photos in advance. Enjoy the scene

Wow Paul! This is a wonderful shot. I like the contrast between the intense colours of sunrise and the soft fog on the darkness. The shape of the silo really stands out sharply, and is echoed by the shape of the tree in the distance. I think it might look even better if it was cropped a little on the right, but it's a great shot as is.

Hi Paul. Yeah I have a lake next to me and in winter the sun sets in the ideal part of the sky but in the summer you can't get any kind of descent sunset shot. I recommend Noiseware as it's cheap and effective. I'll post a WS too so you can see how well it works. Nice shot Paul!

Hi Paul.
This is a very good picture, the fog was captured at the exact moment, the composition is great. The colours contrasts of the sky is very good. The silhouette made by the silo give a very good perspective.
There is a good program for noises that you can find in www.neatimage.com, it's free and very simple to use. Just download the free version.
Well done.

Hi Paul,
Nice picture with a good composition. Colors, light and the silo silhouette are perfect. I like the mood of the picture with the peaceful atmosphere it transmit. Well done
Regards, António
P.S. I totally agree with Stephan and Emile about Noiseware. It have nothing to do with Photoshop built-in noise filters and do a excelent job.

Hi Paul,
I like here the composition and the morning light caressing the remaining fog, the left building silhouette is a good introduction to the view and prevents the sun to be too present, it's well seen. Unfortunately you have too much noise here, did you go too much up the ISOs ???
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Beautiful light again, filtered through the morning fog and creating a nicely layered composition. Excellent placement of the sun, ensuring a good exposure of the dark areas. I am surprise that you got so much noise at 400 iso.

Hi Paul, I like effects of the beautiful colors in this shot. The cloud hanging in the middle and the mist made a nice effect to this picture. A very well composed picture with the silo to block the direct light from the sun. You are right, the noise is a little high in this picture. It is still enjoyable nice shot.

Even if there is a little too much noise, I can imagine you had a great moment there. Maybe freh and humide, but probably magic in this light !
Thanks for sharing it.
