Photographer’s Note
This summer, at the FrancoFolies de Montréal, I was at the show of King Mensah (King Mensah), a signer from Togo, trying to take pictures. In the crowd I saw that woman with that beautiful little girl. Strange, there was almost an aura around them. I asked her permission to take the shot. But that make her conscious of me. Still, I like it.
Music is so powerful to units people from many different cultures...

Bonsoir Claire
amicalement

A nice and warm expression of the portrayed people ... it's all to do with music ... the rhythm of life ... very nice image, thanks!

Hi Claire - this is very nice and natural - it doesn't look so much like she knows you are there - it is a good picture of humanity beyond some of the barriers that as you say music is excellent for breaking down - this is why those 'in control' so often have tried to suppress it to maintain the status quo.
best wishes Kev

Well of the 22 photos you have posted I found one to critique. I love how the many pair of eyes in this photo are all looking in different places. Its really interesting to see that aspect. Too bad her top were not pulled down a little to cover the opening. But that comes with the territory of child rearing. Good work Claire!

How is that we tend to come back to the photos we ignored at the first glance, and then…come back and ignore again just to come back once more…
What did I miss the first time, and the second time around…And again…
And why I'm coming back…today ?
It is quite common syndrome on TE.
No comments left till few weeks after, or even better…Few months after first visit.
Why I disregarded photo and then came back…What is the message encoded within…? What I didn't get the first time ?
Possibly…I know the author of the picture much better now then before, and I've learnt how to see the world thru his/her lens.
And it stroked me: She saw the scene differently than the lens of her camera…She was fascinated by the people's faces, but …That stupid, brainless photo lens registered …EVERYTHING.
She saw emotions, and feelings, but that merciless glass mechanism took into possession things that were not only unimportant, but they were huge obstacle to enjoy the intensity of the scene.
Her heart was there entirely, and her passion, and emotion and willingness to share her emotions with the whole world, and the people out there have seen her, they were as excited with her as she was with them…Just study those faces…Even those who don't look at her, they KNEW she was there - every single face KNEW… It is as clear to me as it can be…
The most important element of a people's photo…The communication, and acceptance, and willingness…
The knew and they accepted her and her camera - without hesitation.
How many of us is able to achieve such status of interacting…?
You tell me…
Abundance in this photo of the good photographic tradition - and that is a 'resolution' - allowed me to make some cropping and transformations.
It was such an easy task…with THAT material …!!! Phew…Piece of cake.
Now I can sleep easy…I know what it was…That urge to coming back over and over again and look at this photo.
I know now…
