Photographer’s Note
C-Day
Canada has decided to jump in the war between the windmills that were no longer any more innocent. We stood by watching the war but I extend our support to the Portugese now due to our history of good relations with them and also because the Dutch are retreating now anyways. We proclaim our support and would like to act as peacekeepers rather than peace-enforcers (we are the non-violent kind).
About the Windmill, well technically it would be Wind Turbine. Windmills are things of the past, I wonder if any of those innocent windmills can stand to our tall sleek structures.
PRIMER ON THIS WAR
There is this war going on between the Dutch and Portugese Wind Mills on TE. It was all started by the Dutch (I would say), as they kept on bombarding TE with those cute windmills those were good for nothing. They provoked a Portugese Sgt Jose Elias who declared a war on them with this photo.
Please also see Rinie, Elaine and Michael on the Dutch side and Sgt. Mario on the Portugese side.
Tan Yilmaz and Jean Yves are neutral.
About the Photo, there are two main elements in this photo, Wind Turbine and Shrine Peace Memorial.
Wind Turbine:
This wind turbine is a joint venture between Toronto Hydro and Windshare co-op. It produce up to 1800 megawatt hours of electricity annually, displace up to 380 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, spin at about 21 times per minute, stand 94 metres tall.
For more information: Toronto Hydro
Shrine Peace Memorial
On June 12 1930, this Peace Memorial was presented to the people of Canada by Leo V. Youngworth to commemmorate the peaceful relationships existing between Canada and USA. It serves as an ongoing reminder that Freemasonry actively promotes the ideals of peace, harmony, and prosperity for all humankind.
Leo V. Youngworth, a Knight Templar and a very devoted Mason was from California, but he selected Toronto, Canada, as the site of the June 10–12, 1930, Imperial Session.

Hi Sarju,
very interesting composition. The DOF is good so it appears as it's real battle. I didn't understand if there is really a battle against this wind turbines or not. But anyway I like this shot.

Ah...Sarju,
I didnt know you were the warring kind...:)And i can see that this is a new generation windmill...
So what is it?...a stealth windmill?..:))
I like the way you have framed your windmill along with the memorial. The flowers in the frame are a very good addition. Nicely done

Hold it, Sarju, you’re completely misinformed. I can hardly blame you, as you stepped in when it was almost over.
First, as you note, yours is a turbine, and not a mill, yours is too tall to do anything, and I don't think he really fits in the theme.
Second, the Dutch did NOT start the war, Jose Elias did, he declared the war to the Dutch with this picture. We did not provoke anything, that’s how he FELT!
Third, the Dutch are NOT retreating, it’s just that we took our cows from the active battle as they were not allowed according to the Geneva Convention.
Fourth, Jean Yes is ANYTHING but neutral, he is completely on the Dutch side.
;-)))
Welcome to the wonderful world of the Worldwide Windmill War, Sarju. Oh, and my name is spelled Rinie ;-)

Hi Saju - a very nice contribution to the theme, it would be very nice composition even without the flowers, with them it's awesome.

I like the perspective that the monument gives to the windmill. As for the war of the Windmills - only a fool would ever get between the Portuguese and the Dutch over a matter of national pride ;)
Great shot.

Hi Sarju, Thanks for calling the peace. I hope they will be no more fight.
A very well composed picture with good natural frame in the front and nice blue sky contrast in the background. Great details and nice sharpness. Well done.

Hi Sarju,
A very well composed scene which works superbly in the portrait format. There is great balance achieved between the statue and wind turbine. I also like your DOF, with the interesting building visible in the distant background. Colour and clarity are superb, as is your fine cropping. The note is so apropos.

Hey Sarju, good mix of art and practicality. a lot of people think that these windmills look horrible and blight the horizon, but I like them, I thin kthey look good, and I think your photo looks good too : )
Well done

Hi Sarju.
I like the composition, the similarity between the statue and eoliene. The flowers in the foreground add colors to the whole scene. Good shot.

Excellent shot Sarju. I like the way the blades of the turbine echo the feathers(?) held by the statue, and the petals of thte flowers. Superb composition. Many people are trying to stop the building of these turbines as they see them as a "blot on the landscape". It will be interesting to see how they are perceived in years to come.

You have collected different elements (technology, art, nature) in one frame... One of the most interesting contributions to the theme.
Thanks for sharing :-)

Hola amigo

OK Sarju...So I slept over this issue.
You took the mighty one (GTA) from my dead hands and made it alive and vibrant like nobody else before you.
Biiiiiiig deal!
One day, I'll wake up and start up another round in the battle for Toronto (and if I do...Watch out the nations all over the world!) IF I DO ???

Love brother, love & peace
Come back with the smiley

It's a shame to have a generator next an icon of Peace.
Everything in the photo is perfect except for that white stick poking out of the green trees.
Maybe someone living in the area can influence the locals to pulling that white stick down.
