Photographer’s Note
This was Lake Ontario at Port Credit in Mississauga in the wee hours of the mid august morning. A visit to this place in the early morning was worth all the effort as I was able to take some very good pictures and enjoy the company of geese and swans and above all see the sun rising from this magnificent lake. In distance you can see a ship in ruins that is always there and also the CN tower of Toronto.
I used the minimum aperature that I could set my camera to in order to slow down the shutter speed to get the glistening effect of the lake, any comments on what else could have been done to make this photo better would be greatly appreciated.
Some facts about Port Credit:
Port Credit is commonly referred to as the downtown core of southern Mississauga's central business district along Lake Ontario. Port Credit has numerous shops lining Lakeshore Road and Hurontario Street, in addtion to lakeside parks and high-rise condominioms and apartments. The area hosts several festivals and events, notably the Waterfront Festival which occurs at the end of June each year.
The heart of Port Credit is its harbour at the mouth of the Credit River. Once a working fishing port, the Port Credit Harbour has been redeveloped into a marina with its signature light house located at the corner of Lakeshore Road and Front Street South. The Port Credit (GO Station) located just north of this intersection, is a busy place for commuters during the weekday peak hours.

I realy like the way the water blends into the sky and rock filling up a good portion of the lower left. Do you have a simial image from a slightly different angle that doesn't include the ship and buildings? I find them a bit distracting. The impact of this image is the rock with its grey and green in contrast to the blues.

Hi Sarju,
I guess you wanted both the rock and the far off ship in the frame..:) and it sure has come out well. I love the predominant blue in this shot with the splash of green and white in the bottom left.
Nicely done

Hi Sarju,
An interesting feeling for that water, half reflections, half transparency. Calm, far away from the city. But couldn't you include the whole rock ? Maybe a portait format could have done that... For me it's the only thing mising here, part of the rock.
Cheers,
Youssef, coming back...

Really going to extremes putting all info in the marge of the shot in a sea of blue, making this shot unusual and I do understand that some would feel uneasy to see this experiment, still it depicts very good this port with an excellent quality of colors and sharpness.
The A75 is a good tool.

LOL - I've just sent you a message about how to get to this place. I see you have already found it! Isn't this the great place on earth! If you get time check out Mumek's stunning shots in winter. He's a great photographer that I admire. This is a great composition placing the rock in the foreground to give the composition good depth. Good thinking. I must remember that. Well done Sarju.

Hi Sarju,
I like this great span of water with beautiful range of blue and the soft ripples giving that bit of dynamism. I would probably try to put the stone on the right side to see if it there is any change. Well done!! Regards.

I like your composition here. It gives feeling about huge size of this lake. A like the stone here, it makes great contrast with blue water and its details are great! Colors and sharpeness on this picture are perfect. Well done, bravo!

Hi Sarju,
beautify captured.
peace is all around this picture. the huge water body, merging with the sky is great. and the rock in the front balances the frame.
I think it is a little noisy, you might want to check out neat image (http://www.neatimage.com/) to deal with that.
Friendly,
Udi

Gorgeous capture with a seamless transition from the water to the sky. Wonderful colors and a very mystical feel with the fog.
TFS!

P.S. I'm going to Montreal on a business trip in October! I'm positive I'll freeze!

Hi Sarju,
For me, the use of negative space is always a good idea and makes for interesting shots like this one.
It is a very good picture. Good capture of expression and moment, this is a very good shot, and technically pretty much perfect.
Nicely done indeed.

ummm ok so lemme try and comment on this.. becuase i don't do much of this kind of photography..
ok if you're aware of my photography, you might be aware that i'm always upto crazy things.. i don't believe in any rules and i definitely don't believe that a photograph needs to be symmetrical to be good..
yet i'm not very comfortable with this photograph... in this particular one..the asymmetry doesn't really seem to work. i think some amount of symmetry and you could say.. a formal touch might have helped..
if this was a part of a series... i might have understood it.. ( you know.. all fine art essays and all that ).. but at the moment.. lemme look at it as a photograph displayed in a fine art gallery individually.. for sale..
i don't think i'd buy it..
i just don't feel the photograph..
it lacks the 'usual' beauty.. that a photographer tries to bring in composing the photograph meticulously.. and it doesn't belong to any photoessay which could let me know something that i'm missing out on over here.. which makes me wonder what is special about this...
i hope you don't take this ina bad way.. as i said earlier.. i'm not very familiar with this kind of photography so i might actually not be making any sense at all..
you'll enjoy michael kenna's work although it's in black and white.. and maybe then you might get an idea of what i'm trying to say here :)
take care and gnite...
