Photographer’s Note
How do six women look when they are in a conversation? Do they look like this group of men, who are paying attention to seemingly different things while they chat, or do they pay attention to a central issue? I sure would like to find out, but then would it be an objective depiction or just my prejudice propelling me to trip the shutter at a particular moment that conforms to my preconception?

good question, bwt, imo it´ll always be your 'prejudice', Animesh, your choice whether to push it or not and when and how and...:)
is that guy in tbe back trying to levitate?
cool, men are just imprevisible and i am not surprised they might be in an accalorated (is this english??) conversation!

Youre note is the perfect compliment to this shot and is worthy of an award in itself. Rarely have i seen a foto caption, either on the internet or in print which is so poignant to the image which it accompanies. Great work.

Don't want to get into this man-woman debate but you certainly caught an interesting scene here. What's even more interesting is the interpretation you give to it, given your decision to post it 2 1/2 months after taking it and place in this conversation. Anyways, I like this shot a lot. I like the overexposure and the high contrast a lot. Thanks for sharing such a nice shot.

Wow. Very high contrast photo! Looks really cool though! I can't tell if I would like it better cropped so the man on the right is gone or like it better like this. I guess I could always try it in photoshop to see. :) Great photo! JP

Great picture- all of the figures seem to have a lot of character. As far as conversation goes, my friends and I (I don't suppose you could call us 'women', probably just girls) look a lot like this. Occasionally, there is a flurry of conversation when a good topic is brought up, resulting in a lot of laughing, but a lot of the time we just kick it- but never in a chair that is as cool as the central guy has. That thing looks very fun- you could sell tickets to sit in it. Great photo.

Well thanks to the abundance of phone cameras and their tendency to pop up during conversation you can probably quite easily compare and see if your preconception is accurate... :)
I like the bright glare of this shot, normally I fight this sort of thing like the plague but here it works so well, drawing our attention to the guys and especially silhouetting the nearest one. I think, though, from a lower angle you might have forced more of the nearest man into silhouette and neaten the composition somewhat.
The cropped man is nice, without him there wouldn't be enough black and I think the picture would lose an important anchor unless it was printed down.

Superb study, Animesh, which works great as an image on its own, with the zany disposition of these satellite men around the room. But it takes on even more weight with your philosophical note! I have no idea as to the answer but it sure is fun to ponder alongside you, my friend... Bravo! Francis.

It's certainly an intersting idea - and a good study of everyday life & activity. Does anyone pay attention to a central issue when in a group like that, or are we all just trying to get attention? Who gossips more, men or women? Who knows more about sports (some of the most knowledgable football fans I know are women!)?
Lots of questions...to which I don't have answers! ;)
Great photo & note :)

Hey there buddy, how's it going?
I like this one too, it's hard to pull off a decent overexposure and you did it! I also agree with Mike that the man on the right is key to holding down the image.
But of course it's your elequence in the notes that sets you even further apart. it's an interesting question/observation. Yup us guys are odd that way--like how I am compelled to slap the back of a man if I am to hug him!
