This morning I drove up the Prest Rd exit off the freeway and stopped in amazment to see all these clouds along the mountains catch the light of dawn. Timing was so important here. The sky was clear but the morning mist and these clouds in dawn light really caught my eye. I have been waiting for a morning like this all spring and summer. Getting up early has paid off today. Tommorrow is my birthday and it is a real pleasure to post this today fore all my Trek member friends to enjoy. As you can see the sun is to the right. I have been to some lovely places in the world but being able to catch scenes like this make me very happy to be living in British Columbia. Enjoy.

Oh my goodness this is beautiful. The colors are stunning and the beauty of this is almost too muc to bear. The compozition is great znd the thin frame you have around it is elegant and suits this well.
Happy Birthday, and many happy returns.

Beautiful colors, great contrast, great photo.

Happy Birthday! You're right about the light in this one being very special - you got it jsut right. The colours are great and the darkness of the fields and trees provides a nice contrast with the golden light in the sky, adding to the intensity. Great job!

Garden, you've been a member for almost ten months. Its time that you introduce yourself by adding a personal profile in your introduction page.

This is a wonderfully composed image with gorgeous light and a fine, muted palette of soft colors. Having spent many months with this combination of camera and lens I know it is a winner. Your photo is evidence of that fact. I applaud your effort to get up early, find this location and set up your tripod. This is a fine contribution to TE.

Now about that introduction... ;-)

What a lucky and skillful catch! Happy Birthday!

Hey, Paul. Congratulations! This really is lovely, and most appropriate for your pending birthday. The tones are super, and the scene has a very clean and smooth look. I also like the way the foreground is dark and angled. Quite a remarkable shot - a keeper to place in my Fraser Valley album. Great stuff.
John

Hi Paul. Yes a pretty amazing shot and light! You sure are smart to carry everything with you when driving around. The way the fog is playing with the warm light is superb. Happy Birthday in advance too. Awesome catch Paul, and congrats!!!

This is one amazing photo! No more comments needed.

The fog and the deep warm colors makes it look like the mountains are on fire. I love the yellow glow to the sky. Unfortunately when I'm up this early I'm usually on my way to work with no time to spare for a shot. I'm glad you captured this one as it's breathtaking! I love the green colors in the foreground, a cool contrast to all the warmth in the sky. A masterpiece well worth the effort and the early hour.

Wow, from black to green to orange to yellow..... how many colours have you captured. Excellent expo. The light is fantastic, getting up early certainly has its rewards.
Happy Birthday (better late than never)

Hi Paul, Beautiful shot. Simply great. I like the different color tones you have in this picture. A quiet and peaceful environment. A excellent capture. Well done.

Those low clouds create a fantastic mood. Beautiful place and a beautiful photo

Garden, This picture is mesmerising. Such a heavenly place. The colors and the smokey clouds creates a soothing mood.

Sweet picture. This is really nice nature. I allways tooth that there is nothing interesting in Canada, but now I really want to go there

Hi Paul
This picture looked like a water painting, especially the mountain and the surrounding clouds in multi color.
This is truely a good picture, Paul. I think the best among all your collection in TE.

Hi Paul,
This is very impressive!! The composition is perfect and the colours stunning. I love the layered foreground leading to the houses and the mountain coming out of the clouds to greet the sun. Congratulations!!! All the best. Will be back.

Hi Garden, A perfect shot - right timing, great colors and well managed contrast. Happy birthday to you ! Cheers, Michael

Hi Paul,
This picture is just wonderful...too good to describe. Love it. You have caught a wonderful moment here with the morning mist still to disperse but the sun slowly coming up lighting up the mountains with its golden rays.
One of my absolute favourites.

Good evening Paul!
You have a very beautiful gallery. This is a fantastic scenery with beautiful colours and great light. Very good darker foreground contrasting nicely with the background of the picture. Very well done. Thanks for posting

You are right of course, getting up early does provide some wonderful pictures, but how on earth do you drag yourself out of bed? This is stunning; such unusual colours, and the mist.... looks like a fire.
Kath

Hi Paul. Thanks for your comments on my Sri Lanka sunset. Taking up your invitation to look at your dawn shots, this is the one I like the best. Everything about this composition is good - the soft light, the colours, contrast, sharpness - you deserve every point that has been given for this so far. I think the dawn light being softer than the late afternoon light (usually) provides more opportunity to capture creative photographs like this, but being a 'night person', I have to confess it is harder for me to be up at dawn than it is at sunset ;) Cheers . . . David

A really beautiful image Paul - what a great early birthday present that was! Looking though your work I can see what an astoundingly beautiful place you have the pleasure of living in - this is worth a whole month of early mornings!

best wishes Kev

This is beautifule field with colorful mist i never saw before. The bottom area is cool, but the top is warm, great contrast.

Hi Paul,
Impressive shot! I discouvered this because of the link you left in Tim's shot of the favorite tree. I thank you for doing that!
The colours and lighting of this fantastic sunrise are gorgeous. I love the contrasts with this dark foreground and the dark green scenery with several layers. Just wonderful.
Well done, getting early to captured this.
I guess it's too late for congratulate your birthday...
Nice to know that your a cancer in sunsigns...
Thanks,

Best wishes,
Ricardo

Fantastic shot Paul, I love the lighting in the sky, and the way the dark bulk of the mountain towers up through the clouds. Exposure levels are good, showing misty detail in the foreground fields. One for my favourites - thanks!

Wow, Paul! Very stunning shot. Very well balanced exposure. Nice job on holding the highlights and still retaining shadow details. As you know the 70-200 L is very good with a bit more contrast than some other lenses in this range. This is obvious here.

The golden orange and blueish green work nicely together. I like the dark mountain too. The whole photo has a nice soft palette.
