Photographer’s Note
Each year in July the Canadian city of Calgary organizes one of the biggest rodeos in North America
The Chuckwagon Races are one of the most popular events and start each night at 8:00 pm in the Grandstand on Stampede Park.
Their origins do not seem to be very clear, I found the following description for them:
At the sound of a claxon, four outriders fly into action. In what looks like total chaos, one holds the horses while others hurl items representing a stove and other cooking implements into the back of the wagon. Once loaded, each wagon completes a figure eight around a set of barrels, and then charges out onto the track at breakneck speed. The outriders have to cover a prescribed distance on foot, then jump on their horses and catch up. Their teams lose points if they don't finish the course within 150 feet of their wagons. Penalties are also imposed for interference and loss of "cooking equipment." The track is 5/8 of a mile long, and the wagons can run in it just over a minute.
Here the Calgary Stampede Official Site, this year from 8. to 17. July

Salut Jean-Yves.

Hello Jean Yves,
he he, marrant ce spectacle, limite chaotique !

Good evening Jean-Yves. I would love to see the Calgary Stampede one day, in the meantime this photo of yours will quench my thirst for the event. A nice and comprehensive wide-angle view of the event, in which a lot of interesting details can be found upon closer scrutiny of the photo. Excellent quality you were able to pull out of this scan.

Bonsoir Jean Yves. Amazing clarity and definition in this photo, considering its age and a very good scan. The lighting is superb and one can appreciate all of the action. A very well composed shot. Well executed.

Hi Jean-Yves. Those crazy Canadians sure have a warped sense of humor! I see some light spots in the shot but it really doesn't interfere with the shot at all. Your POV really lets us take everything in so well. Nice one JY!!
