Photographer’s Note
Photo taken at the Canada Grand Prix 2005 held in Montreal last week end. It was my first experience on site and a gorgeous one, the feeling is incredible.
It was pretty hot over the week end with temperature between 30-35°C and over 40°C with humidity.
I took this shot through 2 fences and another one surrounding these signaller on the other side of the race track. I've then decreased contrast and brightness around the square reserved for the signaller to move the flag out.
I probably wont post picture of the cars since we have seen many here and on TL, but I did take 451 pictures that day....it was fun !
Thanks for your comment and sharing.

Salut Pierre.

I like the crisp view given by this window in the fence. The framing is incredible and the choice to decrease the contrast and brightness as you describe i think is a very good one.
Well captured and presented beautifully too.

Hi Pierre. A nice catch with these guys on the job. I love the sheen of the blue flag. I like how you included the protective fence around them. But the clarity and focus are about as good as it get. 451 shots? You did have fun!

Clever shot, Pierre. Very original. I like how you have framed it with the 'blurred' grey border and the clear bright center. Good contrast. Well done.

Hi Pierre, A good picture to show the supporting guys in the race. I don't watch car races much. If there were an accident, we get to see a clip of accident from TV news. It much be an exciting experience to watch a race in person.
A nice shot of the flag guys. A sharp and clear picture.

Wow, great you got to see the Grand Prix, Pierre, I can imagine that besides the sheer excitement of the event as such it must be an amazing opportunity for photo shooting. I like this photo, kind of a look behind the scenes of the race. Nice study of the signalling folks, and a good graphical effect obtained from the fence pattern, the flag and the 9B sign.

Bonsoir Pierre,
Bravo!

Bonjour Pierre
A good sports action photo, with excellent sharpness & color. I like the depth enhancement, by the man with the flag, overlapping the window, which also acts as a frame. Well done!

Compliments

It's a most spectacular shot, Pierre, from more than one point of view. The subject itself - the people working at the less famous positions and yet so necessary for the race - is very well chosen as an 'in action shot'. The naturally clear and easy readable colors are very vividly and well rendered. But the most spectacular here is the DOF, where you actually got a fence in front of the signalers and somehow in the non-decreased area it's almost not visible! Really remarkable - and with such great sharpness in the center! This most certainly is a winner both regarding how you shot it - I like their attitudes, the blue flag and the large 9B sign - and your post processing. A 3-pointer! Very well done!

Hi Pierre;
Great shot here... I tried to figure out if you had or hadn't done anything to this shot; being the shaded area around the people. That's how I normally judge a good Post Prodution job- if your asking yourself if it is or isn't a PP job- it's good! Hahaha...
I've been really noticing the clarity in your photos, I don't feel I get that clarity from my Canon... maybe it's just me. I find I'm having to sharpen everything for me to be happy with it.
8 days to go till I'm back in Canada for 2.5 weeks- WOOOHOOO!!!! Hahaha
Cheers buddy,
Dan

Interesting shot of these guys on the stadion P. Not least kind of strange effect with all these fences around. Well seen detail, good capture

Hello Pierre,
Different and original. Excelent approach and capture with so many details, good colors and contrast. Clear and with good sharpness. The fences give a graphic addition to this interesting composition.
Congratulations.

Very well captured, Pierre. The figures are caught in their act, playing their role, the colours are natural, and the contrast is good. The composition is excellent, considering your adversity regarding the fences. Well thought out and rendered. Regards.
