Photographer’s Note
This was taken on a stormy afternoon, in the middle of my bicycle journey, it was cold as buggery and I was very tired. It had been threatening to rain all afternoon and in the late afternoon there was a beautiful sunset. I just wanted to get a photo of my shadow on the grass beside the road, so I held the camera next to my waist (so it wouldn't look like I was holding a camera in the shadow) and fired away one shot. I liked how it came out, I have a hard time believing that it actually looked as wonderful in real life, but then again, I was cold and tired. I have more photos and a travelogue at www.geocities.com/Leon_maurice_and_tyrone

Outstanding. I love the lines and cyclist shadow, very subtle but it totally works! Welcome to TE, very classy entry!

Beautiful shot and interesting photographic technique. It seems a bit grainy but that's not a major fault. Very nicely composed, you're really good at shooting from the hip. Welcome to TE!

Great first post !
Incredible sharp contrast between sky and earth: the undefinition of the clouds versus the stunning straight yellow light of the horizon...
Love also the bicycle shadow bonus and it's position...so excellent framing....
Great job and welcome on TE!

Hi Leon
Welcome aboard. Good start with such fine landscape pic. Brilliantly executed that produced five layers of color. Good ideal to put the shadow of the cyclist here.
Well done, Leon.

Very good composition. Five layers of colors, a shadow as the only human presence and the infinity of fields. Air of freedom on the road. Well composed Welcome in TE, Leon

Nice capture. I like the self portrait quality of this shot as well as the range of color and weather phenomenon captured. Very creative and very well executed. Congratulations on a beautiful photo.

Welcome to TE Leon! I agree this is a great first post and a good note too - as soon as I read it was a self shadow portrait I looked again at the pic and said "but he isn't holding a camera" - then you kindly explained how you were! The intensity of the colours and the strong horizontals make of this a strong image even without the strong foreground shadow area punctuated by your presence - this makes an ordinarily good and informative photograph into something quite special - a very nice image!
best wishes

Bonjour Leon,
un très joli ciel, pas coutumier, pris à un moment de la journée où la position du soleil lui donne un autre relief.
Agréables couleurs.
Daniel.
