What's The Rush? Photo

Photographer’s Note

While skiing at Mont St.Anne near Quebec City on the first day of spring, I was struck by the simplicity of this image flying over my head.
The juxtaposition of two states of mind jumped out at me.What a contrast in lifestyles to see the speedy trail of the jet racing hundreds of people off to some European destination while this lone para-glider savoured every second of his lofty freedom.
As I headed further down the ski slope, I would glance up from time to time to see him circling like a bird in the warm updraft....meanwhile, the jet was well over the Atlantic. To each his own rush in life:-)

Such a wide sense of space. Beautiful blue. And your comments tie it together so well. Maybe a click a split second sooner, so the jet isn't falling out of frame? Well seen. :o)

Hi Derek,
Haven't seen a shot of yours for a while. This is a neat one and I much enjoyed your commentary. One gets a sense of a lot of space in the sky here, but I agree with digi-mom that ideally the jet should be a little closer in.
Have just visited your other more recent photos: some excellent ones. I've moved to BC from QC, as you'll see from my portfolio.

Très contente de vous revoir, j'espère que tout va bien pour la famille, j'ai souvent pensé à votre épreuve...
Je comprends très bien le symbolisme de votre photo et j'apprécie le vide de l'image et en même temps tout son sens. Le parachute avec ses couleurs tranchent bien sur le bleu du ciel. Bravo!
