Behind - the big City Photo

Photographer’s Note

Photo taken earlier today on a cold an windy day (between -20°C and -25°C with the wind), hoping that spring will come soon around here!! This is no very far from my hometown, approximately 15km from Montreal, with can see on the left some buildings with the city hidding behind this country view. The panorama was created with two pictures and then cropped on both side, I've include a large version

Hehehe! It is way colder where you are than up here in the arctic today! You've got a good compo going on here. I like the grass, you are obviously down low and you have caught the wind blowing it around! Good feature tree over in that left third to justify the height of the sky and provide vertical interestn. Buildings foreground and background, some hills, good colours.... I like it.

The large version is fascinating, Pierre. I like the mixture of the yellow dry grass and the deep snow. Fantastic compo and colors.

très belle panoramique, encore une fois à partir d'un paysage simple mais très bien réalisée techniquement. Superbes couleurs et bonne netteté ici. J'aime beaucoup le premier plan.

Joli panorama avec un intéressant premier plan. La neige apporte un contraste très marqué avec le ciel bien bleu. Le tout penche peut-être un peu à l'ouest, mais cela ne nuit pas trop à l'ensemble. Belle image !

Il fait un peu plus chaud en Europe mais les températures ne franchissent toujours pas le 0°C et il neige au moment où j'écris cette critique... Vraiment un hiver prolongé dans tout l'hémisphère nord apparemment!
N'empêche, la photo est belle et le panorama très réussi. Bravo!

A nice and calm winter scene outside the big city, Pierre. Good stitching for the large version that offers some nice seasonal details to be found in the view across the field towards the scattered buildings. The portion of skyline in the distance is a nice way of setting the location context. Good work.

Great view specially in L.post,nice winter shot,Pierre,very cold and I like the straws in foreground,nice texture they made in white blue tone of the ground,very well composed,good note and I like it,Pierre.

Bon petit panorama qui permet d'avoir cette situation de végètation dans la neige et ce paysage campagnard.
Bonne qualité et couleurs très naturelles.

Bonsoir Pierre,
Félicitations pour ce panorama, il faudra que je m'y mette un de ces jours, mais je recule devant la difficulté. Encore une très belle vue d'un paysage où le froid règne en maître. Je suis étonné de voir si peu de neige (nous avons en région parisienne à peu près 20 cm de neige). C'est le monde à l'envers.

Beaucoup de détails dans cette image Pierre. J'aime cet grand arbre à droite qui semble nous dire brrrrrr... j'ai froid. Les teintes de cette composition traduisent bien l'ambiance glacial de la journée.

This could be a bit sharper, & I'd remove the noise in the sky. I may try a workshop. But it is well composed, & the snow as a backdrop to the dark foreground grasses, adds a nice graphic quality. Well done!

Les graminées penchées sous le vent dans la prairie sont vraiment très belles. Leur mouvement apparait mieux sur la version large. Là et surtout à gauche sur la photo je suis sous le charme.
Cette neige tachetée de beige invite à la promenade.

Nice cool colors. The blue frame does not really frame. I would suggest a thicker white frame, IMHO.

Très beau panoramique. J'aime sur les 2 versions l'atmosphère presque de toundra rendue par les hautes herbes parsemant le paysage. Dommage qu'il y ait du bruit visible dans le ciel sur la version large. Cependant le raccordage des 2 photos est imperceptible et la finesse des détails des hautes herbes est excellente. Bien vu, Pierre.

Beau panorama, le point de vue est bien choisi même si j'aurais essayer d'éliminer la grosse bâtisse grise dans le fond droit. Les herbes pliés par le vent ajoute à la composition, c'est malheureux qu'il ne ventait pas beaucoup car avec un bon vent et de la poudrerie, ça aurait été encore plus géniale.

Salut Pierre, voilà des températures peu connues par chez nous... déjà à -6°, on meurt de froid... alors là, on serait congelés ! Chouette pano, je trouvee que tu as réussi l'équilibre des couleurs entre les bleu et blanc, la neige est bien blanche.

J'ai lu tes soucis avec ton PC, que c'est-il passé ?

It very seldom we got this kind of coldness here - I can only remember one time below -20 and this was 20 years ago - thanks Pierre - I better post some winter photos before spring comes.

Bonjour PIerre,
Belle image hivernale qui beneficie d'un temps magnifique pour montrer beaucoup de details et de belles couleurs, je suis juste etonne par le peu de neige, on a l'habitude de vous entendre clavarder sur les chutes de neige incessantes... Et a deux pas d'ici, dans le Jura Suisse, des murs de neige de 1 metre entourent la route !
J'espere que tu arriveras a recuperer tes photos, j'ai en ce moment un probleme similaire avec mon HD portable, mais il a eu la gentillesse de donner assez de signaux avances pour me laisser le temps de faire une sauvegarde.

Nice shot Pierre;

Great job merging the 2 shots, I can't find the seam...
I like the clarity and the inclusion of the vegitation (wheat looking) in the forground.
Funny enough I'd be willing to trade places with you for a week if work wasn't an issue! Hahaha. Grass is always greener on the other side. I need a vacation from this humidity and heat!

The cold radiates from this pano! I like the snowed feels and the two lonely trees, waitin' for the spring. Very fine job.
Ps: I hope that you can retrieve the pics from y'r harddisk!
