This mural is on the back wall of the Gooderham Building shown previously from the front. The mural was commissioned by the city to make the wall look better from the popular small park at this location. The proposal of the renowned Canadian artist Derek Michael Besant won the contract for the project, and it was unveiled in 1980. The mural makes the wall appear to have more windows than it does and uses the motifs of the Perkins Building, which is located directly across the street.

That is brilliant, what a novel and fascinating way to decorate this building. Its done perfectly too, its design accentuating that this is a "cloth" pretending to make the building something else. Brilliant artwork, and as always, an excellent shot to showcase it. You have so many wonders of design in your country, it never fails to fascinate me.
All the best

This is an eye catching mural for sure and your image does justice to it with a good framing, good light with well rendered colors and excellent sharpness of details.

Kia ora Barnabas (greetings from New Zealand),
What a great mural. Excellent example of a trompe l'oeil. Amazing it has been there for over 30 years. It obviously doesn't impress the gentleman on the seat - he's seen it all before! Cheers, Neil

I looked at the front view of this building, and I have to say that I prefer the back. :-) The artwork is fascinating, and I like the reddish color, too. It's great that there were some people around to add a bit of life. I especially like the one person sitting on the ground against the facade.
