I was wanting to post something a little bit different today, so I went searching through the old archives and came up with this one.
This sculpture is seen in many places around the world, I've seen a few of our European TE members post photos of it here, Juan (JFS) has a number of photos of it too.
The 'We' sculpture as its called here, is a collection of letters in the alphabet from several different languages intertwined and connected into the human form. There are lights inside to illuminate it at night, and combined with the blue lights in the bg I thought it could make for a half decent scene. Over the 30sec exposure, some noise collected, but hopefully it isn't too bad.
Thanks for looking!

A good capture of this rather curious artwork. The shot is well composed making good use of the blue laser beams to fill the right hand side of the frame and provide contrasting colour. Sharpness is excellent.

HI, Craig. I saw this sculpture in Paris last month, but my shot is not as nice as yours. Excellent light management for great sharpness. I love the compo with the blue rays around. TFS

Interesting statue and a very good piicture. I have seen another one at Antibes. There it is call "the Nomad" by the Catalan artist Jaume Plensa. The blue rays here make the scene very effectful.

Why so modest? This is at least three quartes decent:-). In fact, I like it. The We is well it, or has achieved a good exposure in 30 seconds, and the blue rays make it look like something from an s/f movie. I would even go as far as to call this a fascinating picture.

Hello dear Craig,
Your choice was a perfect choice !
I like here the amazing graphism, created by the blue beams of the projectors.
TFS and best regards

l'immagine è molto bella, la luce che colpisce la statua crea tridimensionalità e le luci blu attirano l'attenzione.
Ottimo il controllo dell'esposizione, la foto è ben composta ed il risultato è piacevole.

I rather like this style from you, Craig. This actually is reminiscent of a sci-fi movie here, with the blue lights and lit figure looking almost monolithic as he looks out over the nighttime landscape. The light from behind the statue does interesting things - the tops of the head and knees are lit up well, effectively breaking up the statue itself. Nice crisp long exposure.

heheheh your title made me laugh Craig.
But I looked closer and there's only one "e" in We hehehe.
I can't believe this one has been lying dormant in your archives for so long. You must have kicked yourself when you've rediscovered this wee (excuse the pun) treasure. Love the electric blue lights and how they share the glory with this marvellous sculpture. Great job and a real pleasure to view.
Cheers, I'm going for a wee now :)

Hi Craig - This is a really strong composition, the framing, contrasting colours and light and dark work brilliantly. No evidence of grain at this size either. The light inside the sculpture has really enabled you to get a feel for the 3D and the figure pops out of the shot. Super. Warm regards Rosemary

Shifting from sky srappers to a human presence, in fact not a real person! Don't be so shy!
Good framing to include the blue rays of light anf the harbour at night.
krzychu30 (15512) 2012-12-19 2:36
awesome shot! How could you hide it for so long in your archives?
Just love these blue lights shooting up the sky and the sculpture so nicely breaking domination of blue tones in the scene. The contrast is fabulous.

This is an outstanding representation of this sculpture. The positioning and the soaring beams of light are very dramatic.
Beautifully precise and well presented.

love this! I am a great admirer of Juan's shots of this sculpture. I find it quite fascinating and this is another stunning capture. The lights and lines here complement each other and the effect quite beautiful. Any more like this lurking in your archives? If so bring them out as this is classy work that needs to be shared with the world! :-)

Anothere way to show this well known artwork, and you really achieved a beautiful result. I like how the blue rays of light creates a kind of a military trellis around the statue. And of course excellent composition with ideal placement of the main subject. Great work:) TFS. Have a nice day.
Best regards, Erling

I always enjoy to see your shot of this artwork. In more, you got this so special blue laser lightning in background giving a nice background of this statue.
It is always good and often worth to go back to a known subject to try to get new variations.

A stunning POV, and a wonderful sculpture, all topped off by that amazing light. I have indeed seen this sculpture on others gallerys, but I never knew what it meant, so thanks for the note. It reminds me of the oscars, but with meaning!
All the best

Superb capture of this We Statue by Jaume Plensa.
The contrast between the illumination of the statue itself and the blue diagonal rays gives a great effect.
Congratulations and best regards.
vjmite (4216) 2013-01-22 3:51
This is a striking composition, perfectly executed. The sculpture itself is interesting enough, but those blue lights produce a surreal effect.
