500th Post, a photo from British Columbia, Western

Photographer's Note

Well, where do i begin?

500 posts is by no means a record on TE, not even close actually, but its still a significant number i suppose. Will i make it for another 500, who knows?

What I do know is that TE has opened up my world to photography once again - before TE i let my photography slip away from me. TE and its members helped me get it back.

I owe a huge thank you to all of you who have taken the time to view and critique my photos, seriously, a big thank you! It takes alot out of our daily lives to log in everyday and scan hundreds and photos, taking time away from our loved ones - so its much appreciated.

This scene was fitting for my 500th post, its of the Colored Sails or its proper name The Canada Pavilion.
A subject i've posted dozens of times from many different pov's. The Sails turn color as the daylight passes into darkness.
This one was taken as the sun was setting, you can see the orange yellow glow of light striking the Convention Center on the right.

I've added a WS photo just for fun and enjoyment showing the sails in all their glory :)

Hi Craig,
you have reached the milestone of 500 photos presented on the site. Congratulations! And certainly, I wait for other 500, minimum.
You have chosen a beautiful composition, with a magnificent graphical power because of these huge sails and its contrast with the sloping fronts of the buildings at the right side.
I like the smoothness of the light and of the tonalities of the image, that it gives a great result in the personality of the photo.
The WS photo is a good recollection of the Olympic Games, and has a great chromatic beauty.

You present us beautiful picture for this special occasion.The close-up view and this particular POV of the Canada Pavilion catches excellently the mood of the evening with its beautiful,gentle lighting.It´s amazing and so eye-catching how reflects the setting sun in the facade of Convention Centre.Just love this color contrast between these two parts of the photo.

I guess this is fairly typical of your style: interesting architecture where you have used the elements well, combining two very different buildings in a way that has created several parallel diagonal lines very nicely. I like the inclusion of the word CANADA. It leaves me in no doubt where this was taken.

You celebrate yor 500th post with an excellent example of your style. The juxtaposition of the Pavillion and the Convention Centre works very well - you clearly composed this with thought. A nice contrast of colours as well. A tremedous shot. Looking forward to at least 500 more!

congratulations on reaching such a milestone. it really is an impressive achievement, i'm not sure i've got 500 pictures in me, never mind 500 good enough for TE. and yes you're right about the committment of so many TE'ers.

a great combination of architecture and canadian culture. i especially like the golden yellow colours on the building to the right. very strong lines and patterns in this composition.

Hello Craig, My congratulations to you for your 500th post. Keeping up with photography is a real chore and belonging to TE helps. I like your shot here as it is very colorful and modernistic. I post by spurts and I have been posting for quite a long time, but I get behind and then I quit for awhile. I have several thousand slides to convert to digital and I do that sometimes. I am retired, but I play golf at least three times a week and we travel quite a bit, but I am back for now. Have a good week. Regards, Roger

You make a great point about the time and effort we all invest, yourself included. It is a big deal for many of us. I been here awhile, not even 300 yet. Congratulations! That is a lot of photos and experience and lessons learned.

This is a great shot, wonderful exposure with the white on white is not easy task. Great depth with a great sense of architectural abstract. Which is your specialty.
