Photographer's Note

À Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, environ 500 résidences sont touchées par les inondations. Plusieurs rues de la municipalité sont submergées, même si certaines d'entre elles se trouvent à plus de 500 mètres de la rivière.

En tout, des dizaines de routes sont bloquées dans la ville. Certains résidents sont d'ailleurs forcés de circuler en bateau.

Bonjour Serge,

On peut dire que la distance sur l'eau amène de la profondeur dont les résidents se seraient passé. La luminosité donne un ton monochrome mais amène aussi des reflets prononcés qui donne une atmosphère de calme relatif.

Bonjour Serge,

La distance entre les cabanes donne de la profondeur à l'image. Les reflets sur l'eau sont des atouts à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les conséquences de l'inondation. Le ciel nuageux nuit légèrement au rendu des couleurs. Bonne journée.

Les catastrophes naturelles ou pas, sont spectaculaires, et sont de bonnes occasions de photos. Belle image ponctuée de rouge. Excellentes netteté et profondeur. Bravo.

Salut Serge,
On voit bien que la nature s'est défoulée dans ce coin particulièrement. Ma fille est chanceuse de ne pas demeurer dans ce coin. Est-ce que tu avais les deux pieds dans l,eau pour prendre la photo. Belle présentation qui montre bien les dégâts et c'est un évènement à oublier mais pas facile.

Bonjour Serge,

As I write this, the sky is dark grey, the rain is pounding down in huge torrents and the water is rushing down the lane as if it was in the bed of a fast flowing stream. We are crossing our fingers that it will stop soon or we will be flooded!
For that reason, I have a great sympathy with what you have photographed here.
Your pov captures the sense of resignation to the elements, as the flooded land reflects the trees in a never ending lake of tranquility. The lack of people and the warning red cones signal the devastation.

Superbe point de vue sur cette zone inondée.Tous ces reflets dans l'eau donnent un magnifique résultat sur la photo.Malgré les mauvais côtés des inondations,il en ressort parfois de splendides paysages comme celui-ci.Bravo.

Hello Serge,

A very well documented image of the floods . The colors are very soft and almost monochromatic. The image is very sharp and the reflections are very clear. Nice management of light creating a nice gloomy atmosphere.

This looks more like a Belgian canal, than a Canadian field! Good to record such transitory & ephemeral subjects. I hope the inundation didn't cause too much damage. Reflections, sharpness & graphism are all superb & the minimalist colour works well. Merci!
