Photographer's Note

Continuing with my boat theme, i upload a photo today taken from Vancouver's popular Stanley Park.
Yes, I have posted many photo's from this park, and i will probably continue to do so!

On a clear day or even an overcast day, if the wind is calm and there is no rain, you're guaranteed to have an opportunity to photograph some excellent water reflections.

Driving around the park looking for the best spot, i came across this area. I took many photo's this morning, but i chose to post this one because the brown boat on the far right is my favorite :)

It is indeed a wonderful reflection, and the boats add a great feeling of depth. The buildings look quite cold and clinical, but the little boats bring the warmth back. Very nice, TFS!

Mmmmm...a chocolate boat...yummy!!! :-) That's what it looks like to my chocaholic brain! That brown boat does stand out against all of the white and blue. I like the reflections in the water, too.

High-rises and boats? I remember I had that theme in Hong Kong. Yours is of a cooler kind, both in color and quality:) Fantastic mirror reflection, just like crystal glass. Great job!

Hi Craig,
I like this kind of architecture and I also like the soft and subdued colours here. That blue boat works as the real eye-catcher in this picture. It doesn´t have to be red to attract the eyes, as long as it is different...

This is the 50/50 reflection Craig,its funny although a modern town,Vancouver has completely its own character and is easely recotniced,even from the thumbnail ;+]].
a lot of glass in the buildings.

Hello Craig,
a superb picture! The many elements that compose it are placed so well in the frame that the rich composition breathes and all of them get their fair share of attention. The verical lines of the buildings and masts, extended in the reflections, give a delightful rhythm to the view. The light is managed exquisitely. I love the reflections on the water and on the glass buildings, the view of the boats reposing so quietly on the luminous water, and the lovely brown boat that is striking at the side of the frame. Congratulations and thank you!

POV chosen allow a marvelous reflection's, and inspite the grey sky - you managed a fine light-green tone mirror on water.

Lovely water front with impeccable sharpness, color tones & wonderful background. Well detailed throughout on the prominent buildings. The foreground subject and almost mirror water reflection anchor the focus so well and the little touches of bright colors have further added the much impact to the shot, a lot to look at within this limited frame. In this framing you have caught the interesting architecture of the buildings, its reflections on the water of the port, the graphical effect of the boats, which add a nice nautical atmosphere to the ensemble, and a great light as well.

Love the silvery blue tones that dominate this image and of course the symmetry of those amazing reflections. The contrast of the little brown boat at the end provides a nice break in an otherwise uniform image. Lovely reflections and superb geometry. I like this shot alot. Have you forgotten your "Y" signal for John though? :)

This looks familiar. I saw similar scenes elsewhere in Victoria, & from the Burrard Bridge & the bay at the entrance to Stanley Park. Fantastic reflections with good sharpness & symmetry. Have a great weekend!

Hoi! As Lisa says, where is my Y/N for this one? Now let's see - I think this definitely is HDR. Am I right?

As others have said, this is a beautifully composed shot and one which really makes the very most of those lovely reflections. Like yourself, I have a soft spot for that little brown boat at far right - it's understated and rather cute amongst all the posh pure white ones.

Perfect exposure, lovely lighting and colours and exquisite details and sharpness.

with your photo, i've noticed that, all in these 8 years of my TE membership, it is the first time i am writing to a photo from vancouver!
actally i've always wondered why there are not so many photos being shared from the US or canada...
anyway, great POV with lovely reflections, i especially like how the top of the mid building is bent to the right in its reflection. it is somehow funny :)

this is true that these reflections are superb and were worth a picture.And like you, i like the brown boat , alone in all these blue colors all around it, that the cloudy sky and the soft light contribute to give.

the sharpness and detail you have managed here is incredible. this is another very well thought out composition. all the elements combine perfectly with eaach other. there is a wonderful balance to this image, in the buildings, the boats, and then the reflections. i particularly like the positioning of the blue covered boat to the right side.
