Thought i'd upload something a bit different today.

This is the Marine Building in downtown Vancouver. One of the very few Art Deco architectures we have here. What you're looking at is the main entrance doorway, or should i say, just above the double doors. The doors are 2 wooden turnstiles, and they themselves are very attractive.

I wanted to get a close up view of the designs and patterns. Funny how you can walk past a building dozens, hundreds of times and not realize the beauty it can hold if you don't look closely enough.

The Marine building was completed in 1930, at a cost of
$2.3 million, and its most recent property value is at $22 million.

The colors and designs are meant to evoke a sea/ocean theme. You can make out Sea Flora, Fauna, a large Vessel, all presented in Sea-Green colors mixed with Gold.

The building has been used in countless Major production Hollywood Movies and TV shows. If visiting Vancouver, don't miss out on 355 Burard Street.

I am glad that you post something different as this detail in art deco style is wonderful. Indeed, there is a vessel, seahorses, waves, all in nice colours. Well done!

Somptueuse pièce Craig,
tu as choisi un cadrage symétrique ce qui est bonne idée, j'airais aimé voir cette oeuvre avec plus de recul, dans un WS par exemple.
J'aime ces nuances dorées et cuivrées. Une photo nette et précise.

Hi Craig,

i'm fond of Art Deco and so i was allured to this image on the other hand well composed -and quite symmetric- and very sharp.Its richness of details is well made here.I looked for other photos of this place in Google Maps and i must to admit to be pleasantly surprised by it.Very elegant in its lines.Another place that i didn't know.

In New York City and Miami there are lots of similar examples!

Talking of people losing their bodily functions, wow I almost did when I saw this. I LOVE Art Deco and this is such a magnificent example of it. I can see why they'd use it in films. yes, now I have seen that you also presented a photo of a wonderful Art-Déco sample, it's very funny!

At the first look, what astonishes me is your total control over your camera work. Absolutely beautifully rendered colors and texture, and clarity of this image is an achievement in itself. This particular work reminds me of Chrysler building in NY. These were the days we had different expectations for what we built. I am very glad that you have found this beautiful work of art. I have only been to canada once in my life, I would very much like to go back and discover its beauty one day.
