Photographer’s Note
One of the odd things about Vancouver Island is being able to find common things in the oddest places. I have heard that someone hung up some shopping buggies up some fir trees near Courtenay on the Inland highway. I have been looking for the carts for a number of months and finally found them high up the tree last weekend.
If you happen to be on the Inland Island highway you will find this cart just south of the Cumberland/Courtenay exit. I am uncertain why or how this was done, but things like this make for interesting conversation pieces, and justified to share on this site.
Thanks for viewing.

Hello Paul,
When I saw the thumbnail I was wondering what the photo was about, but opening the photo I started laughing. Haha, what's that shopping cart doing in the tree...did the squirrel take it to go shopping?
Interesting shot with wonderful light, good details and nice colours. Very original!

Great funny daily life shot Paul! Sharp detail and a good shallow DOF to make it stand out. I've heard of people taking shopping carts home before- but squirrels too!?!?! What's the world coming to?
I guess this cart hasn't been equiped with that anti theft coin deposit ;-)
Cheers buddy, good to see you back on TE. How about posting some of those brilliant Airshow shots? (please)
Cheers buddy,
- Dan

Hi Paul,
Great to see a photo-post from you, and what a shot it is! Strange for sure, but for some reason it seems this summer has seen more "crazies" than ever - not to mention that squirrel shot that the world seems to be tlking about? Hope to see more of you in the days ahead. TFS. Gerald
