Spring In Action Photo

Photographer’s Note

The first hay windrows of the season alongside freshly planted corn emerging from the fresh earth, with hills and mountains as a backdrop - truly spring in action where I live. I took this shot just minutes before the sun went down behind the mountains, hence the warm light. I'm busy sorting, but will be posting a series from Alaska soon. For more of my images, click HERE

Hi Gerald,

Strong lines which makes the composition perfect, just as the contrast colours between both fields. The house on the left also creates a good focal point and those snow peaks in the background make the who picture complete. A very good one in composition and especially in light...great shot.

oh, this is just TOO good! Sensational light and color, beautifully composed and balanced, wonderful sharpness and clarity. I love the curving lines of the fields and stream and the great contrast between the richly colored FG and the snow capped mountain in the distance with the blue sky above. This is one great photo! Hi, Gerald. The stream is a very good lead into the picture leading the eye towards the mountains in the background. It also divides the brown and green parts of your picture which contrast well with each other. Nice spring colours with warm tones emphasized by the sunset.

I like the beautiful colors certainly due to the low light conditions.
The composition is great as well and I like especialy these curves in the foreground leading the eye through the image gently.

Hi, Gerald -

It feels like it should be unbalanced, what with the heavy weight of the fg mountain on the left. But it's not, somehow; I think the strong rust color and bright light on the field on the right is enough to make it work. Also, the creek or canal leading the eye into the middle distance and to the distant mountain rather than the fg hill also works to keep the scene in balance. The diagonal of the hilltop serves the same function. Very nice work! Great strong colors, too.
