Photographer’s Note

A modern colosseum, that is how I felt when I saw and entered the new Vancouver Main Public Library. Even from outside it has the looks of a modern colosseum. A very radical design by architect Moshe Safdie.

St. Augustine said, "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." He should have added, "For those without enough funds, go to the library."

The library is located in the central business district of downtown Vancouver and is adjacent to the Vancouver Center for Performing Arts. The library is bounded by Robson, Homer, West Georgia and Hamilton Street.
