Photographer’s Note
Yesterday was an interesting day for me.The weather forecast was very good,23 degrees and sunny so I headed to Minnewanka with my family.
I got there and it was all grey and cloudy but I thought it`s better than Calgary,no matter what.
In an hour this is how the weather and the light looked like!Brilliant!
This shot is made up of four shots merged to panorama in Photoshop CS4 but the original tiff files are exported directly from Canon`s DPP.
Enjoy!:)

Wikipedia:
Lake Minnewanka ("Water of the Spirits" in Nakota - the Stoney Indian language) is a glacial lake located in the eastern area of Banff National Park in Canada, about five kilometres northeast of the Banff townsite. The lake is 28 km (17 mi) long and 142 m (466 ft) deep, making it the longest lake in the mountain parks of the Canadian Rockies (the result of a power dam at the west end).[1]
The lake is fed by the Cascade River, flowing east of Cascade Mountain, and runs south through Stewart Canyon as it empties into the western end of the lake. Numerous streams flowing down from Mount Inglismaldie, Mount Girouard and Mount Peechee on the south side of the lake also feed the lake.
Aboriginal people long inhabited areas around Lake Minnewanka, as early as 10,000 years ago, according to stone tools and a Clovis point spearhead discovered by archaeologists. The area is rich in animal life (e.g. elk, mule deer, mountain sheep, bears) and the easy availability of rock in the mountainous terrain was key to fashioning weapons for hunting.[1]
The western end of the lake can be reached by following Lake Minnewanka road from the Trans-Canada Highway. Boat tours are available near the parking lot. A hiking and mountain biking trail runs along the northern shore of the lake, passing Stewart Canyon and six backcountry campsites.[2] Mount Aylmer which at 3,162 m (10,374 ft) is the highest mountain in this area of the park, is located a few kilometres north of the lake.
Dams were built in 1912 and 1941 to supply the town with hydro-electric power. The most recent dam (1941) raised the lake 30 m and submerged the resort village of Minnewanka Landing that had been present there since 1888. Because of the presence of the submerged village, submerged bridge pilings, and submerged dam (the one from 1912) the lake is popular among recreational scuba divers.[3]

Hello Nelu,
A beautiful landscape view, crystal clear and sharp. The green colour of these Canadian mountain lakes remains astonishing.

Hello Nelu ,
This is a fantastic panorama , Nelu . These canadian mountain landscapes are very impressive . I like a lot the feeling of wildness and immensity . The curve in the fore ground , the color of the water , the sky : all these elements add to the beauty . And the opposite shore is perfectly horizontal ;o)) .
Thanks for the share .

Hi Nelu,
A brilliant capture, to post or not to post, hahahaha, no brainer with this one. The large post is spectacular.
I've noticed in your HDR shots how sharp you get the ridge lines of the mountains against the sky, I thought it was a product of HDR but here you've got the ridge line standing out to the point where they look almost deep etched and no HDR. In this capture It is very close to a 3D effect, it looks brilliant, no complaints from this end, just wondering how you do it.
I like how you've got the lens curvature in the foreground but the background is dead straight, again a very attractive look.
How clear is that water, 23 degrees, I'll bet your son was in there swimming around.
Great shot my friend, all round a happy day for you and the whole family.
Warm wishes
Peter

Hi Nelu, I notice this is your 250th posting, congratulations on that and this most excellent offering. I love the POV, beautifully created by the wide-angle. Great use of the CP and I really like the image being HDR-less. It makes the mountains and lake look wilder and more untamed. Thanks for sharing this with us, Lisa
