Photographer’s Note

Moon rising over the city of Vancouver. What really makes this different is the light wispy cloud passing right in front of the moon, which somehow gives the appearance of the moon having a tail, like a comet. I have some other shots with the moon lower and closer to the buildings, but this cloud was fast moving and didn't last too long, so this is the only one with the cloud in just the right spot.

Ahah do I see another one who's been shooting under the moon, nice urban pov and the kind of photo that allows to show that psychedelic Nikon blue, placement of the moon is top.

I'm very glad to see your picture from Vancouver again, I've realy missed some good cityscape lately. Beautiful and peaceful scene, with interesting effect in the sky with the cloud and the moon. Beside of the this, the reflections are always interesting!

Fine marina view at blue hour. The reflections and the moon above enrich an alredy good composition. Smart and sharp.

Hi Alvin. That blue colour gives a cold feeling. Lots of things to see in this picture and the orange lights give a good contrast.

That what I have always admired at your photos is the neatness and that is present here,in this photo. The blue atmosphere creates a very special mood and technically the photo is impeccable.Like usual,I should add.

The sky has such a good colour. The refelctions and their colours are wonderful and make a great contrast with the blue. Great night photo.

Hi Alvin,

Seeing this it makes me jealous that i could not make such an image last August. It looks so typical Vancouver seeing this from your hand and the exposure is better than ever before, probably caused by the D700. Sharpness is superb, but all those lights twinkeling against the blue is for me the best part in ehre...wonderful.

The blue hour light is stunning, especially with all the bright colours and reflections. That cloud certainly does make it look like a comet tail and gives added interest.

This is a pleasant scene; the moment of capture was good because of the reasonably soft light and resultant colour range. especially of the blue color, the whole quality of the image is simply amazing.

Wonderful blue hour photo of the Vancouver skyline over a marina; that moon with a tail is just outstanding. As always, all the technicals are spot on with stunning color.

I looked at this photo and thought, "It is amazing how this man can take so many photos of the Vancouver skyline with a marina in the foreground and never repeat himself." That thought took me off into a trip through your Canada photos. What a lovely trip, each photo has unique light and color.

The reflections in the water are assets to the composition. The point of view leads our eyes toward the highrise buildings in the background. The moon has a special effect on the colors. Have a nice day.
