Photographer’s Note
This was taken at Morraine Lake in Banff National Park. This image shows the morraines that form a scree slope from the eroding mountainside. The colour comes from the light reflecting off of the glacial silt in the water. I'm not sure why I was at ISO 800 but I was trying to photograph two pikas before I turned towards the lake so it was pure abesent-mindedness I guess.

Hi Phil. Wrong ISO? I know the feeling too well, and not just ISO! Great photo. Those glacial lakes are a marvel to behold and you have captured the colours beautifully. Nice composition also with good diagonals to add a dynamic touch. Thanks for sharing.
Have a good weekend, Paul.

Hi Phil,
I was there a few months ago, but never pointed my camera to this part of the lake.
Thanks to the blue of the lake it brings vived colours inside the picture and makes it very pleasant to look at. A stunning place to be, i could spend here day after day, it's a beautiful area.

Hello Phil
The turquoise colour of the lake make me thinkf of the old mining pits around my town because they have the same colours. The difference is about that one is natural instead of artificial. Great lines and shapes. The point of view is awesome. I like the contrasts and the nice colours too. Good work!
Best regards
Denis!

Morraine Lake is a beautiful place. I like the fact you have sought out something different from what we usually see from there. The curving lines from the edges of the scree slopes are delightful to see. There are still plenty of details in such a small slice of the area, like the snow and the pine trees. Of course the colour is the stunner!

Hi, Phil.
Majestic, perfectly balanced close-up, and stunning colors! A different, refreshing view of wonderful Lake Morraine, and a major tip of the hat to you for the excellent "alternative" thinking. Have a good day, buddy. See ya soon,
Fulvio.

Great shot showing the incredible colour of the water. The amazing thing is that it changes during the day, as the angle of the sunlight hitting the water changes. When you hike up the trail to Sentinal Pass and look down from way above you get very vibrant bright blue/green, which this shot reminds me of. Thanks for sharing!

Oh, my gosh, Phil!
What a fabulous shade of turquoise that water is! It looks like the Caribbean. I love that curvy shoreline and the way the mountains come down so sharply toward it with that great light catching in spots and snow in places. The vertical lines of the dark green pines are a really nice contrast, too. What a scene! Man, that's beautiful! Many thanks and warmest regards,
Shelly

Hi, Phil -
That color looks artificially added, but of course it's not. As an art shot, I find it disturbing - that color does NOT belong there; the contrast between its garishness and the subtlety of the shore colors is jarring. As an example of a nature shot, though, I find it incredible.
I don't know Canon cameras, but one longstanding complaint I have with Nikon is that their cameras do not include the ISO in either the viewfinder display or the display on top. So I completely sympathize with your ISO confusion. Not that it hurt the shot in this case.
Best,
Dan

Hi Phil:
Not an ideal time of day for shooting the mountains around Moraine Lake, but it was a good time of day to shoot the water, so great choice of subject. This is ISO 800? That 20D must handle high ISO pretty well--it doesn't look half bad. I love that Moraine Lake water color, and your composition is also nice, with the bends in the shore leading the eye through the frame. Nicely done.

Hi Phil,
It's hard to fault absent mindedness when surrounded by such beauty.
The colors are magnificently unique with the evergreens and glacial rock seen in incredible details and sharpness.

Hi Phil,
If I hadn't seen this place with my own eyes a couple of years ago, I'd say that this colour can't be real. But I know it is - and you captured it beautifully. I'm not sure if I've ever seen this perspective before since usually pictures show the whole mountain range. Great crop though, very artistic.
Thanks for sharing, best wishes

Phil, no questions at all. I recognized this little detail from the Moraine Lake even from the thumbnail. I was looking at this detail while up there myself and thinking of taking a shot, but the light didn't favor the moment. You got it right.
So there is a chance to finally meet you at Painted Hills in June?

Hi Phil,
That's some color there. It almost looks like the water has turned into paint. Lots of strong colors, and diagonals, verticals and horizontals.
