Photographer’s Note
There are some mornings you don't need the alarm clock to spring you out of bed. When you open your eyes and look through the open window to see the soft shifting of colours playing on the barely lit clouds, you leap out from under your covers and dash for your camera before the moment is lost.
Such was the case yesterday morning as the under-lighting from the rising sun hit the low clouds.
I consider myself very fortunate to have such a wilderness setting to wake to each day. This is a wide view of the Jacques-Cartier River which flows right by our doorstep.
This panorama is a stitching of seven shots. The different light readings from the panning made for quite a challenge.I was debating whether to include the standing birch tree to the left but finally opted for it, using the flash for that section because of the morning darkness.Perhaps with some photo editing the demarcation points in the sky could be better blended....but it was a pleasure to witness this gift of nature as I saw it.

Derek I to live in the country and see many scenes like you. I had a look at your porfolio, impressive. You have given me more insperation to shoot what I have here. There is so much.
This pic reminds me of the first place we lived at when my wife and I moved here to Manitoulin Island.
I have put you in my faves.
Thanks for given us the beauty that is available, if one would just pay attention to their surroundings.

Hi Derek, you live in a superb place ! It's an excellent pano with stunning lights and colors on the clouds as well as on the water, you managed to master the changing light conditions in a superb way. I like the birch on the right. Sharpness is generally good, seems better on the left part than on the right one.

Very beautiful panorama you got here, Derek. It's amazing you managed to take so many shots wihtout having too many differences in the light which usually changes quite fast at this time of the day. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is the pink frame, everything else is perfect! YOu're very lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

Hi Derek,
It is a great challenge to match the colours of 7 different photos manually (I don't know whether this comp came out manually or by software). Congratulations, you succeeded to join them into one beautiful picture as a panorama.
It would be better IMO if you did not join the birch tree to the right. The colours in that area doesn't seem to belong to the main composition (photo there with a flash looks both blury and provides and artificial light early in the morning)
The composition would be more balanced in terms of colour and clearness had you not included the birch tree on the right.
Cheers
