Photographer's Note
Going back to one of my favorite places once again - i can't help it! :)
As you may know already, this is Stanley Park in Vancouver. The view has been photographed to death, and i'm apart of that, but it keeps me happy :)
It was taken early in the morning, just after morning Blue Hour on a crisp cold winter's day.
When you photograph a location so many times, you really get to understand it. For example, usually these Sails on the left are in color - reds, blues, yellows, greens and whites. But depending on the time of day they are Shut Off - I knew I had to get here early enough, but i was late! But in the end i liked how the Chevron sign came to life in contrast to the greys of the buildings.
Composition is SO important to me, i try to take notice of all the little things. I made an effort to position myself so that all 10 of the sails can be viewed, so that they are not overlapping eachother.
Hope you enjoy it
Cheers
Craig

Hello Craig,
A well presented urban panorama with a particular mood to it. The lights add a splash of colour and help warm up the wintry atmosphere. Very good sharpness.

Hi Craig,
This reminds me of two visits to Vancouver and the wonderful urban landscapes that we enjoyed. Those sails are so appealing. This has been very well composed and interesting light. The dark clouds at the top of the picture hold the picture in - excellent.
Best wishes, Ann

Hello Craig,
Your perseverance with your composition here has certainly paid off. Golly, we really do have so much in common - I can be incredibly obsessive at times too!
But your meticulous attention to detail has delivered the goods with this one. Lovely composition, perfect exposure, lovely light and colours and, as always, exquisite sharpness and detail.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Craig,
A delightful pano in great light and with such a lot of enticing urban detail! The horizonal layers and the careful framing and exporsure (very well managed, all those different light sources) make it rock. I like it a lot!
Interesting note too - and I couldn't agree more about site knowledge and attention to detal while preparing to frame.
Best regards from Rotterdam

Hi Craig.
A very good panoramic crop for this one, leaving just the right amount of dark cloud near the top edge, and water down below. I think the exposure of the tiny lights and the Chevron sign and building is superb. Pity about the sails' lights, I guess, but the detail you've captured in them by considering your viewpoint, and all over the shot, is outstanding. I love the sheen on the water!

Andrew

Hello Craig
First of all, the Stanley Park seems to be inexhaustible as source of great scenes and views. A very nice postcard from VC. I like how the grey watersurface creates kind of odd reflections, and yes, the sign and the light from the tower in the bg provides a great contrast to the dominating grey. Thanks for sharing this one:) Have a nice week.

This is a really well presented shot. Your care has allowed the viewers to enjoy the details of this early morning shot with great clarity. With the silver sky, the soft lights, and the lifting clouds, the city feels to be stretching, yawning and waking to a new day.

Hi Craig,
The 10 sails, just saw and critique in TE:"CLIC" photo's, and as you noted this is an importent part in the whole area fabulous skyline.
Fine dusk scenery, with the Chevron sign lightened and stands-out, as well with the tower on BG.
Big city in calm ambiance.
Lovely,

Hi Craig,
A very nice one here, slick and moody, with a metallic feeling, provided by the steel blue dominant colour. I like the way the Vancouver Lookout tower stands out with its warm light.
The format of the frame suits your photo efficiently.
Cheers!
