Vanier Park - Vancouver

Activity: There are a number of reasons you may want to visit Vanier Park on the south side of English Bay, just west of the Burrard St. bridge:

Kite flying: small kites, big kites, fighter kites, specialty kites.

Vanier Park is home to the Pacific Space Centre - Vancouver,Vancouver Museum, and Vancouver Maritime Museum.

Vanier Park is just a hop and a skip to Granville Island - Vancouver.

Kitsilano Pool and Beach is just another hop and a skip west of Vanier Park.

It's right on the water so you can see all the boats entering and leaving False Creek.

Age group: All ages.

Expense rating: Free unless you go to the museums.

Proximity to attractions, and something for everyone.

If you've seen enough of kites, you can take a 5 minute walk to Kitsilano Beach, or Granville Island.

the colours are spledid!I like very much the white of the buildings and their contrast with the deep and strong blue of the sky,sea,and mountains of the background!I also like how you have framed the town with the vegetation of the foreground to give some depth!Very well done!

des couleurs très saturées comme je les aime.
Un surtotu un ciel bien polarisé dans lequel ces voiles nuageux nosu font un peu oublier ce qu'il y a au niveau du sol.

this is very unusual for me, pretty different than the beachs we have here. The point of view chosen by you reveals your attention to the composition. I like a lot to see the cityscape in the horizon line and that intense dark blue on the sky. Great job!

Le grand angle a fait merveille pour ce paysage de printemps grandiose. Le premier plan avec les bois flottants échoués sur la plage donnent un graphisme intéressant. La ville reçoit la belle lumière devant les montagnes à l'horizon. Bien composé avec cet arbre au premier plan !

Hi, Danos. A good natural framing with those trees in the foreground. They contrast well with the concrete of the city buildings. The logs on the beach lead the eye towards the city and the people give the scale of the picture.

You mentioned a lot of activities for this attractive place but I missed “caber toss” part of the Scottish Highland Games involving the tossing of a large wooden pole called a caber. All that cabers are lying here on the beach. :-)

As I always imagine, there are places where the city skyline is impressive, like this POV that you have chosen very nicely to show a low angle shot. Very good bright day for you and the blue sky is giving a superb contrast to this landscape.

Curious all these trunks on sand… Still a pretty panorama on this beautiful area of Vancouver. The buildings with far have a pleasant sight on the lake and this park. The strong constrast are pleasant. It's a pity that it either so far because I will spend well a few days in this area !!! Thank you Danos.

The trees are framing well the highrise buildings. The point of view takes our eyes toward the buildings which is giving depth to the photo. The light is enhancing the different tints of colors of the scenery. Have a nice day from Yellowknife.

very intereting and exciting place it seems here. i like the way you positioned thew beach, framed by the tree and bushes. morever, the idle logs make this scenery very interesting. very dramatic blue sky and superbs clarity of the buidings.

Hello Danos,
the phantastic sky, the cold colours and the metropolitan city scape produce a somewhat futuristic feeling. (Most probably the wide angle lens has its part in the effect as well.) Good that there are also natural objects (bush, tree, wood) in the foreground for contrast.
