This is Chesterman Beach, near Tofino on Vancouver Island. Most of the coast of BC is rocky, but near Tofino there are some beautiful stretches of beach. The majority of them are contained in Pacific Rim National Park, but this one is just outside the park. It has become a popular vacation place, with lots of hotels and resorts, and it also is popular for surfing.

Those trees in the distance look quite mystic. The overall atmosphere is really serene...the sky looks great and the long exposure makes the sea look silky which only enhances that mood. Very good shot with a composition that is close to perfection.

Classic seascape with long exposure. However, most of time the sea seem to be milky. In this shot it look like an oil sea especially in the FG.

Hello Alvin. Your photo shows this extraordinary atmosphere with tones of blue. That's a beautiful and pleasant picture!

Those trees in the distance are what make this a cool shot, Alvin. It must have been dark for this to be a 3-second exposure. Anyway, the tones blend beautifully, from the orange of the sky to the near-black of the beach. It has a feel of mystery. And I can hardly tell you used a hard edge ND. Regards, Ken.

A very secluded, peaceful, and quiet ambience in this remote pacific ocean reach. Good photographism with nice light, colors, and details. TFS. Gerald

This is really what you are good at. Those beach shots in hazy conditions look always if they were taken from another planet. Superb mix of soft and hard contrasting colours and those rocks in front look great as a foreground composition...really nice work.

I didn't make it to Tofino, so tfs! A fantastic sunrise or sunset, with good motion blur of the water, & excellent color & sharpness. Tfs!

very nice one Alvin,
a fantastic speed image, well taken, good balance, I like the freezing of the water in the well taken shot, fine balance too, have a nice day.

As Henk observed, this is your trademark classic posting - and interestingly, taken with the D200 and not your new D700. Your gallery was my first 'favourite' when I discovered TE, and is still No. 1 for me!

A nicely cpmposed shot with the two sets of rocks forming separate triangles. The slow shutter speed has smoothed out the water for an ethereal look.

Hi Alvin! I like the colors and the way you played with that zigzagging fence in the composition. The reflective light is also great and my favorite section is the far background in the mist. That hilly forest looks amazing under that pastel mist. But strangely, the photo as a whole does not convince me very much. Sorry for being straight, but I feel something is missing here. Just don't ask me what... :) Probably the rock formation over-dominates the picture. And that formation is not that beautiful per se. On the other hand, the delicacy of the top layer doesn't go very well with the roughness of the rest. I don't know, it leaves me with mixed emotions, if you understand what I mean. But it's great to see some beach shots in your gallery. Keep them coming, please.

there is a great contrast between the brightness of rocks in the foreground and the hazy appearance of the background as well as the blue tones and colors of sky.
you played well with those elements.
sorry , my english is to bad to explain what I mean.

How nice to see how long exposure makes water oily and its color metallic, against this color the trees in the warm area in the distance offer a good contrast.
Have a nice day JY

Fine view of the Chesterman Beach with beautiful colours and details.
Perfectly managed the tine exposure in order to create an excellent effect in the water surface.
Very good phtojob

beautiful, mystic photo (especially trees in the sunrise light),very good angle and colors,mid-ground part of the photo can be easily taken as a snow, but it water. I was not so lucky last October (rain most of my stay), now I enjoy this place on your photos.
Very well done.

The use of a tripod and of an exposure time of 3 seconds gave good results. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the rock formation in the foreground, The sunset is giving nice colors to the sky. Well done, have a nice day.
