Alvin,
Beautiful scene with this light dusting of snow. The reflection is great and adds nice depth and balance to the shot. The clear water showing the rocks below along with the reflection gives the photo a 3-D look. The clouds create nice patterns of sun and shade on the mountains creating nice contrast. The lighting and colors are outstanding here and you have given us a nice DOF.

Hi Alvin,

A nice image of lake O'Hara, of the forest and of the mountains receiving the first snow. It is also giving good reflections in the water. the photo has a good composition, DOF and nice colors. Thanks for sharing.

Perhaps a horizontal format using a classic 1/3 to 2/3 ratio, may have worked better here, but it's still a brave attempt. I still sometimes experiment with new framing & composure techniques. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Wonderful reflections in this stunning alpine lake. Tfs!

Hi Alvin,
A very effective shot of the first snow in this magnificent area. I like the contrast between the foreground of warm rocks and lake bottom versus the darker green of winter's approach. The vertical format is apropos and the eye can appreciate the many layers of interest. Thanks for the technical info and insight.

Ok we know the place is awesome, now theearly snow is a good bonus to add value thanks to it contribution to the overall brightness and clarity of the image, and when the sky is clearing after snow it's always a magical moment.

Boy you could not get a better reflection. It's like a polished mirror. You have captured a beautiful range of colours and hues. Well done for camping in freezing temperatures to get such a great shot Alvin.

I'm pleased we haven't had snow yet. Today was a beautiful warm spring day. Anyway the light fall creates excellent contrasts with the trees and rock. The reflection is so amazing and the transparent water in the foregrounds adds an original touch.

This is a stunning shot high in quality, superb reflections which fade away to reveal the bed of the lake, serving as good foreground interest. Amazingly fast shutter speed at f11. Must have been bright, as you say in your note. Excellent work.

Hi Alvin! High quality work here. The view thru the water in the foreground is so clear and sharp but that is just the icing on the cake. The star of this shot is the reflection of those lightly covered pines. The lodge really does harmonize with the scenery.

I wish we had landscapes like this here in Europe. But we haven’t and therefore we have to travel a few thousand miles to visit your homeland to enjoy its beauties. I have an uncle, who lives in Edmonton. When I look at this photo I feel a strong desire to visit him soon. It’s a great shot of a very impressive place.

Hi, Alvin. First snow, but the trees in the reflections still look green. This means how early it is. The scenery is wonderful. The diagonal made by the reflection on the lake surface divides your picture into early winter and late summer. Very good light and colours.
