Hello Alvin,

Very nice shot. There is a lot of freshness coming out of the snow, the sky (perfectly exposed), and this clear water.
I always love the first snow photos, where lakes are still not frozen: there is a nice contrast in the texture betwwen snow and water.
I just went through your gallery, and I like it lot.

This is a great shot! The snow is well exposed showing nice detail and color. The reflection is great creating nice depth and balance. The splash of color added by the blue sky creates nice contrast. The lighting is great with nice sharpness and DOF.

You mean, in Canada there's not always snow everywhere? But don't you guys live in igloos? Oh, well, you learn something new every day! ;-)

I guess the night in the cold was worthwhile, since your fingers didn't get so cold that you couldn't press the shutter! Frozen fingers or not, it came out really nice, with a natural transition from shady to bright (which always takes some adjustment, since the camera doesn't record it the way the eye does!)

Hi Alvin,
Mmmmhhhhhhhh does this look good, an early winter preview in september, well I wouldn't mind sleeping in the snow to enjoy such a landscape, just after snowfall as the weather clears is always a magic moment and this view despite lacking direct light has outstanding clarity thanks to snow, water and reflections.

Hello Alvin,

I am sold on two things with this shot — visiting British Columbia (and seeing Yoho National Park) and upgrading from my Nikon-D70 to a D200 (or possibly the new D300 that is about to be released). Of course, your composition and perspective makes the photograph; but the quality of the image (with the resplendant colors and obsidian glass sharpness) is quite spectacular. Since the photograph is only a couple of days old, you must still be there.

What a shot! My wife keeps pestering me about moving to Calgary, and I may have to give in if you folks in Canada keep posting stuff like this. That amount of snow is great--it's enough to coat everything but not so much that it covers the details of the trees and mountains. Lake O'Hara is one of the places I most want to visit. Great job.

Hi, Alvin. I find the light fantastic in your picture. Maybe it's due to the fact that this snow is there so early. I particularly like the light on the rocky face, which gets a very nice colour. The rocks in the foreground give a good depth to the pictuer and the reflections are nice. Maybe I wouild have liked to see more of the rocky face reflected.

A real beauty with mirror-like reflections - sharp and crisp, just as we would expect a winter's day to be in reality. The trees and the bank provide nice converging lines to lead us into the shot and give perspective. Nice work.

Wow, what an amazing shot! You didn't expect all this snow, but it sure was a nice and pleasant surprise to wake up to such a fantastic view with a fresh dusting of snow! Great low POV with the view towards the trees and the mountains in the sunlight. The reflections on the lake are fantastic as well! Excellent work, Alvin!

You can really see thfreshness of the snow in this picture. Very nice shot! I do not like cold weather but if I have to sleep in the cold to be able to take pictures like this I will do it!

Hello Alvin,
Having a tour in your gallery should be a must for people wanting to promote tourism in Canada! One after the other, you presents us with incredibly beautiful photos of the Rocky Mountains. They are so beautiful that it would pour some doubt in the mind of the most convinced separatist in Quebec! :)) Nah! I don't want to be political here, just joking! :))
So, I had to choose one. And my choice was for this one, simply because of the snow! :) Winter is coming, and seeing your photo, it helps to come to terms with the idea! :)
I should mention that you do a very good job with the PP of your photos. It is hard to find technical flaws about them. I guess you won't complain! :))
