Continuing with my mini theme of hiking near Whistler, actually its about a 30 minute drive north of Whistler.
Here's another photo taken from just outside our tent. I took this photo as we were starting to walk towards the Glacier which is to the left of this lake.
There were about 7 or 8 tents in this location, and of course we were the first to be up at this early hour, i think it was about 6am. The data on the photo says its 8am but its incorrect. So it was sweet to have this peaceful scene all to ourselves, walking along the lake.
I'll see if there's a WS photo or two that I can post along with this one.
thanks for looking
And once again TE reduces the image quality... right click the image to open it in a new window - not only is the photo sharper but the colors are better too.

Lighting makes a lot of difference in photography and I like it that the lake in the shadow capturing the refection beautifully! Sharp details and wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.
No, I don't think I can ride a glider although they look awesome flying freely.

This looks cold but beautiful. Great light and contrasts. I could say a cliché or two about the water's surface, but I'll refrain from that. You know what I mean :-).

Wonderful way to awaken, in Nature's domain with this idyllic high alpine scene, mountains mirrored perfectly with wispy clouds in the distance.
I can get by without modern conveniences as long as I have my coffee from a morning camp.

I took a look at the Beta Trekearth edition too, you are right about the quality and the colours, there's superb definition of textures there and the colours look more vivid and bright. There's a big difference. This is a wonderful wild scenery, the symmetry and the stillness make it look almost unreal. I like very much the balance of your composition and how you integrated the dark areas in the frame, they make a fine graphical contribution and are so mysterious and atmospheric too. The dark reflections are mesmerizing. I like the workshop pictures too, especially the second one. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

Hello Craig, What a marvelous place for hiking. Amazing reflections and shadows, I like this black spire.
I go for small holidays with LF, this time in Poland. But in my thought I am already in Russia.
Warm regrad s MAlgo

a truly beautiful place and a shot that proves halfway horizons can work superbly, especially with a fg to add scale and depth. Stunning and has to be seen in a cleaner view to get the full impact.
snunney (83729) 2014-08-21 5:27
A lovely symmetrical composition with some superb reflections. I like the placement of the lowest point at the right hand edge, allowing the eyes to move naturally across the frame from left to right. Well manged light with excellent colours.

What a stunning series of photographs!
Each one could have been posted in its own right.
For me, they really fulfil the TE objectives of learning about the world through photography. There is no way that I will see this for real but I'm so glad I've seen it!
The mood, the light, the colours ... wonderful!
Scenes like this make one marvel about our planet!
Thanks for sharing this,

Pretty fair old reflection thing you've got going there. I like the sunlit mountains counterbalancing the dark tones of the foreground. 6am? Back in the sleeping bag!

Ce paysage est délicieux avec ce contraste noir bleu et la petite touche de teinte chaude sur les sommets à l'arrière plan.L'image est bien composée,c'est très agréable à regarder.

Hello Craig - I note on FB that Mariusz comments on how much sharper these shots look there. It's true and not only that, here the shadow areas look a bit blocked up. A pity as this is a wonderful shot and deserves to be displayed at its optimum.

Good evening, Craig

Wonderful scenery, you offer us a fantastic POV, this superb double image created by reflections so perfect, I like the shadow right on the mountain, with a corresponding reflection in the water looks like a spearhead.
Excellent resolution and very good approach.
Very good job.
Enjoy a happy Sunday.

Lovely landscape image, the reflection in still water is so wonderful and the sky so incredibly blue.
Reminds me of my own travels in beautiful BC and Alberta.

What a gorgeous trio of photographs, each one with glorious light and colours and of stunning technical quality.
I've just been doing a little research and I see that Wedgemount Lake is about 2,000 metres (probably around 6,500 feet) above sea level - so I presume that the glacier is higher still. I'm also intrigued by your workshop photo which shows the actual glacier itself - that must be the lower part of the glacier where it comes into the lake - it almost looks like it is "calving" as chunks of ice break off and float away - I guess they would be called icebergs if this were happening in the Arctic.
What an experience this must have been for you and Tosca!

mkamionka (30618) 2014-08-25 12:29
breath taking view. It must have been even more impressive in the reality. I like the well saturated and all natural colors. I see you are all natural here. I noticed you have had, similarly to me, an adventure with HDR, which in many cases is just necessary but when if it is not it is great to show all natural photo like this one here. I like very much the strong shades which make the photo three dimensional and so realistic.
pierrefonds (56973) 2014-09-01 16:20
The reflections on the water of the lake are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the mountains. The good luminosity is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.
