Yes, I know its a subject I've photographed and posted many times before, so I must apologize for that.
But the reason why I'm showing you this again is because its the first time I've ever photographed Science World in the fog.
For the past 5 days or so, Vancouver has been blanketed in a layer of Fog that just won't go away or burn off.
Day, afternoon, evening, and night, the fog has just hung around.
I wondered how it would look at night time during the black hour. So I went down and was surprised how the sky turned a orange/red with the 3 second long exposure.
And I lucked out with the tiny sailboat on the left, thats a bonus. No filters were used here, even though it may have looked like I used a tobacco filter.
Hope you like the Fog and mist at night.
thanks for looking

composizione ineccepibile di un momento bellissimo.
Una eccellente esposizione e un riflesso meraviglioso.

You are so active lately with posting. Amazing view of this ball and its reflections. Incredible colours. Fog sometimes can produce marvelous magical images. I like it very much.
In Istanbul we often wondered with Deniz what you would like to see there. With me it was simple, I was delighted with mosques, old districts and nature.

Hello Craig - How the atmosphere had changed with the addition of fog. I love this shot, it has a quiet stillness and I think you have captured the 'closed-in' feel associated with fog, you know, where sounds are dulled and the world seems to shrink. Excellent management and an excellent shot. Warm regards Rosemary
snunney (90030) 2013-10-23 2:11
An image perfectly composed along classical lines. The misty atmosphere is very well evoked. I like the rich red tones and the excellent detail. Just goes to show that a good photographer can get a great picture whatever the weather conditions.

Wow! Superb night shot of this intriguing building beside the harbour. Reflections on the black water are fantastic and with the added bonus of the boat make a perfect composition. The fog gives a ceiling for the light from the buildings and gives a nice warm glow to the scene. Love it.
All the best.
jacquest (18871) 2013-10-23 4:20
This is a beautiful and very well done composition. I like the orange tones all around and the bonus boat adds to the image. Your exposure time brought out good details.
kasianowak (7565) 2013-10-23 4:28
Very beautiful and well composed scene. The light is marvellous and reflections so perfect. The fog creates wonderful atmosphere and great backdrop for the main subject.
Sergiom (67502) 2013-10-23 4:59
C'est bien la preuve qu'il faut toujours être prêts à toute éventualité lorsque l'on est photographe. Ici, le résultat est sublime. La brume joue bien son rôle d'adoucisseur de formes. Les couleurs sont magiques.
timecapturer (49288) 2013-10-23 5:17
like this, it has a bonfire night atmosphere about it, with the globe looking like some exploding pyrotechnic. Warm light and subtle lines add to the effect so beautifully.
kato (11630) 2013-10-23 7:13
You're capturing well this scenery by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's impressive to see the bay area in foggy blue hour. It's also interesting in the architecture of Science World. And, the reflection to the bay draws out a good atmosphere. It's a visionary spectacle with two tones of black and red, mainly.
holmertz (45281) 2013-10-23 9:58
Looks like the red light district of Vancouver. The fog has a tremendous effect of blurring the background and makiing the colors float. A striking and quite memorable picture.
eldancer1 (32095) 2013-10-23 9:59
Wow! Simply beautiful! I like the effect of the fog on the mood. Great nocturnal shot and good timed exposure. The water look so calm. Wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

Hi Craig, I like this good picture of this place at night and in fog, very well composed and captured in this beautiful picture with a beautiful reflection, with good sharpness, nice color and light. Great and interesting job perfectly done, congratulations my friend. Thanks for sharing this beautiful work.
Good afternoon and happy rest of week.
Best wishes from southern Spain.
ktanska (25903) 2013-10-23 11:42
Foggy conditions and still water worked to your advantage on this one. Yes, there seems to be many reddish lights there given the sky special glow. And exposure time was right to give luminous but not unrealistic lightness. Symmetric framing fits well.
krzychu30 (15510) 2013-10-23 13:06
I´ve learned in Hong Kong, that fog(and also smog:)means a lot of new opportunities for unique and atmospheric photos. This one is the best example of that! That´s true, you´ve posted few photos of the Science World before, but here covered with fog it takes on a new, unique look.
I enjoy also this dominating red color.
All together create truly dreamy atmosphere of this scene!
For me-brilliant composition!
Fis2 (90089) 2013-10-23 13:49
Wonderfull mood and colours.
Photo has climate.
Have a nice afternoon

You know, when you keep providing new and interesting shots like this...you can post as many as you'd like as far as I'm concerned, and this is another fantastic one!
Man, that fog has once again set a moody vibe...and this time under the cover of darkness...kinda' spooky!
You'll have to excuse my one track mind, but I can't help but think of the Red Light District in Amsterdam with that red glow. :)
You're right too, that boat is a perfect touch, sitting out there by itself on the still waters adding to the quiet and mystic atmosphere. Perhaps it's simply the color and big round shape, but this also has a very "Christmasy" feel, like a giant tree bulb. Look at that, you're already getting a head start on the season! lol
Really cool shot, the fog may be a nuisance, but it sure makes for some great opportunities. Enjoy the rest of the day. Take it easy.
Cheers from Az.,
worldcitizen (7622) 2013-10-23 17:12
This black and red color scheme is really beautiful. The illuminated ball on top of Science World resembles a burst of fireworks, and the foggy atmosphere is really nice. Great exposure as always. With the great color and reflections, this shot is moody and cool. :-)
PaulVDV (24429) 2013-10-23 19:02
The calm water allowed perfect reflections. It's a picture that you can also show turned upside down.
Splendid shot in the red hour :)
Best regards, Paul

Wow! this is just magnificent snapshot. Perfectly well done. Fantastic colors, perfect reflection. JUST PERFECT. Like it a lot. Tfs.
All the best,
jjcordier (79054) 2013-10-23 22:31
Magnifique! Les couleurs et les reflets sont splendides et la petite brume ajoute un intérêt supplémentaire. Sur la vignette, on avait presque l'illusion d'un feu d'artifice!
fabbs99 (16817) 2013-10-23 22:46
This is an incredible shot Craig,
Excellent photography with nice colords.
dkmurphys (52773) 2013-10-24 0:48
The foggy moment is surely spectacular! I like the perfect management of lights, not the most enjoyable conditions I guess.
Have a nice day.
Noel_Byrne (27440) 2013-10-24 5:08
I see you say you;ve posted before, but I think its my first view of it, and a wooooooo from me. Magical looking picture. Its not often you get to make a building look like a firework, so well done for achieving that perfectly here. That oragen glow in the fog is brilliant, not to mention the silhouette of the little boat and the perfect glass like reflection. Nice one!
ChrisJ (104347) 2013-10-24 5:52
Even though it must have been chilly the warm reddish yellow colors heat up the image. Superb sharpness with fine symmetrical reflections that balance the composition. The sphere is well positioned on the 1/3 axis. Tfs!
claudeD (35503) 2013-10-24 6:45
wow! wonderful night picture from Vancouver in the fog. Excellent light managment for this perfect fotojob.TFS.
With regards from Luxembourg
marabu61 (9503) 2013-10-24 7:13
I for myself really like taking pictures in foggy conditions. One can capture some amazingly moody photographs under those conditions.
You have certainly achieved a fine example of those here with wonderful silky water and still a good clartiy on the iluminated globe. I agree that the sailing boat is the cherry on the cake in this composition.
have a great day
Romano46 (18472) 2013-10-24 7:37
Ciao e buona giornata
adramad (40688) 2013-10-24 7:40
A wonderful image, showing us this beautiful corner, shining as with fire, the area and its beautiful reflections are superb touch to the composition.
Great as good lighting and sharpness allows us to recreate the image.
Well done. I love it.
Have a nice day.
All the best.
rogerl (1544) 2013-10-25 5:53
Craig, great composition. The fog lends a lovely halo to the entire lighted portion of the scene. I've never been to Vancouver, but it sounds like it's a lovely city. Thanks.

Wow! Great night shot with splendid reflections and a magical atmosphere. I like a lot!

Interesting lights diffusion by the fog, very nice warm lights well managed

Hi,Vancouver has so many faces and you show them impressively with your work. All the best Wolf.
delpeoples (55094) 2013-10-26 22:18
A top shot, I loved it on FB and love it here in the larger format. Interesting how the fog turns everything orange, giving us a view of the spiky bally thing that we've not seen before. The fog also sets the atmosphere, where again we've seen it at the crisp Blue Hour and at a Grey Hour, there's a totally different vibe to this photo.
Great shot, enjoy your Sunday
Graal (100114) 2013-10-27 2:38
very nice view here. Good shot by night. Amazing lights and reflections in calm water. Fog adds the special climate. Place and photo I like.
Have a nice day.

Absolument merveilleuse, dans les couleurs a l'effet du filtre tabac :-)les reflets de tout l'ensembles mais surtout de cette boule de lumière, bien net contre le fond légèrement dans la brume, très belle réalisation

Ciao Craig, fascinating nocturne shoot with fantastic reflections, splendid light, beautiful clarity and wonderful colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio
rigoletto (34279) 2013-11-03 6:18
of course i will not let this one get lost to my laziness. friends probably told you all, but my feeling is the eerieness of it. despite the abundance of tungsten lights, the place looks abandoned and creepy rather than lively and full of science. maybe a taste of "the mist" by stephen king or "the fog" by john carpenter...
