Autumn season has not hit full stride yet as its only early October, November is when it really shows its best colors.
But I didn't want that to stop me from trying to find some early colors.
I headed down to Stanley Park, tried to find a good vantage point and wait for a jogger to pass me by.
In the bg on the right is one of Vancouver's best looking bridges, the Lions Gate. It has the same style as the Golden Gate in San Francisco.
The weather was changing quickly, as I drove into the park it was sunny but when i got this photo the clouds quickly filled the sky - not the best situation but I still hope you like it.
The next autumn photo I post will be in November.
Thanks for looking.

this time you show us a different side of your Vancouver, but it looks lovely.Great place for jogging, walk or just to enjoy the nature(the trees are beginning to change their colors really beautifully-I can´t wait November to see the best and most intense colors of it-I hope you´ll take some pictures of it for us) .
And few words about the composition itself-I like the frame and timing here.I´m glad that you included this jogger in the shot-he adds some dynamism to the scene against the walking couple in the far distance.
Have a good day

Nice to see this familiar location, Stanley Park is a real gem what comes to city parks. Well framed, and good that there's some sunshine in the fg, though light is flat in bg.
I guess in Canada too autumn colours first appear on maples? Here in Finland colours are on their peak now.

I like the way the river sweeps in a broad sensuous curve right round the frame. The jogger is well placed and gives the scene depth as well as adding a touch of vitality. The light is not of the best but the autumn colours are nicely captured even if they are only in their infancy.

Blue skies are always nice but i can't see that these clouds have made this picture less attractive. The yellow leaves at some distance look just as fine, and the lack of direct sun may have saved the jogger from the oppressive October heat :-).
I like the very nice curve of the road, leading us up to the bridge. I also like the inclusion of the painted sign in the street. I am pretty sure that was intentional. You wouldn't miss such a thing, would you?

Difficulties getting online - so cutting and pasting this - BUT just want to say - "I like this shot!" Before I lose my connection yet again.

I know its a strange thing to admit, but before photography I paid so little time to the world around me, and didnt realize the colors of Autumn. Until one day I saw a scene in Family Guy when the "leafers" were coming to see the change. Now of course, I see life through a lens, so look for the color, and what a variety you have here. Not only the wonderful colors, but the bridge for the architecture fans, and the lead in from the sweeping curve makes the image almost 3D. I feel the urge to jump in and run towards the forest myself!
All the best

Ciao e buona serata

Like this autumnal post full of charming tones. The combination of warm and cold colors is here really eye catching and made the scene very well. Classy and elegant composition. Well observed and done. TFS.

The jogger seems to believe it is still summer but the colours of the trees here tell a different story. A very attractive view, with the shore curving along the lake. A very pleasant landscape here.

Forgive me if I've mentioned this before, my memory sucks at times!? Before getting familiar with your work I had only known of the impressive Vancouver skyline. I love that you show us so many different and interesting places and facets of your city!
When I first saw this, I thought that the jogger was actually yourself...you snuck in a semi self portrait! :)
Beautiful water front, this certainly does look like a nice place for a walk, jog, stroll...or whatever pace one moves. Good idea though to include that touch of motion and life. If it's this colorful already, I sure hope you return for another shot when it really gets going...oh, and be sure to post it here...I wanna' see it! :) Grey skies or not, this still turned out quite nice. Well taken and presented. Enjoy the rest of the evening.
Cheers from Az.,

Hi Craig, we can feel already autumn on this photo. Nice early colours and this curvy path looks very attractive. Lovely place away from sky scrapers :). The running guy on the photo looks like you.
Warm regrads MAlgo
Royaldevon (43865) 2013-10-09 1:42
Despite the lack of sunshine, you have compensated with other skills to create an interesting shot. The inclusion of the runner was a master stroke, creating the perfect lead for us to follow his route around the curved circuit.
The trees are beginning to become autumnal, probably more than we are seeing here, in England. We had a late start to spring, now autumn is following the trend.
The brighter colours in the f/g, leading to more subdued colours in the b/g accentuates the sense of depth.
Have a great day,

Here in NYC we'll also get our best autumn colors in early November, but there are still plenty of lovely fall scenes like this one to capture. :-) My favorite part is the man and his tiny counterpart on the pavement. The landscape and bridge aren't bad either. ;-) It's interesting that there are no barriers in front of the water. People could just wade in if they wanted to!

bella la linea curva che delimita il percorso, aiuta il nostro sguardo a seguire l'immagine.
Splendidi gli alberi in versione autunnale che si alternano con i sempre verdi.
Bella composizione in un'atmosfera di pace.

Looks like you succeeded in your hunt after some autumnal colours. Especially the trees in the middle of the frame seems to have beautiful autumn colours. Love the composition, the perspective and of course the inclusion of the bridge. Great work:)

A classic view of Stanley Park but with the man jogging cleverly incorporated next to the painted sign. The curve of the path leads the eye around the beach, and the golden trees add a lovely punch of colour.
Kind Regards, Ann

No man-bladers? Hey that fella looks like you, or how I picture you to look when jogging. Sure you didn't set it on timer and quickly run down to get in the frame? lol. Anyway, a lovely daily life shot, those colours are wonderful and they aren't even in full bloom yet. I'd be delighted with them if I saw anything like that here. I like the curve of the bay too, that runs from the corners of the frame and leads the eye towards the marvellous Autumnal foliage. What a great place to be to exercise, photgraphise or just sit and think.
Thanks for sharing it with us, have a great day

I'd love to go jogging in that beautiful park! It looks so pleasant and the views must be wonderful, including that attractive bridge and the mountains in the bg!
I like this picture too that has excellent sharpness, exposure, colors, chosen pov and composition!
TFS - congrats,
Have a great week,

I know this spot! Brockton Lighthouse to the right & Stanley Park behind. Hard to believe exactly 5 years has gone by since I was there. I love the curve of the shore leading to the Lion's Gate Bridge to Capilano & Grouse Mountain in the bg. Tfs & have a great weekend. I might seriously try and get down to Capadoccia or Antalya tomorrow! Which means see you in a week and a bit! Oh & here's my take in October 2008:
