On a hot sunny September day I wanted to go for a walk along one of Vancouver's harbors.
This one is located near Granville Island, and it offers up great views of Downtown Vancouver in the bg - the location of most of my highrise photos.
From this point of view with the ultra wide angle lens, I was lucky enough to get both bridges into the scene.
On the left is Vancouver's Art Deco bridge, the Burrard Street Bridge. On the right, is the Granville Street Bridge.
When walking along the Seawall, you'll get to appreciate wonderful marina scenes with rustic fishing boats, with the downtown core in the bg - I think I'll post that photo next.
And if you look to the left you'll see the sign advertising fish for sale. Local fisherman sell salmon, cod, crab, and halibut directly from their boats. As I was taking my photos 4 people came by and took some home.
In my humble opinion, this is Vancouver at is best.
Thanks for looking!

Hi Craig, With you ultra wide lens you take wonders. great view of the Vancouver downtown and two bridges. I believe you it is the best of Vancouver. as I remember you do not eat specialties from this fish sell. I wouldn't mind to buy some.
is it low tide?
I am packed and go!! hurra!

Ton très grand angle donne une vision originale du port de Vancouver avec cette bordure d'eau qui paraît circulaire.

Spectacular panoramic scene of this harbour in Vancouver. Good POV and the two bridges give depth to the shot leading towards the city in the background. Plenty of photo opportunities around here I'm sure.

a shot that has impact and demonstrates how that is achieved with use of a superb viewpoint and W/A lens. It is so perfectly detailed and exquisitely clear with amazing DOF and light management. Awesome!
decidedly cool and autumnal here in southern England

So this is what Vancouver looks under a blue sky - interesting.
This is a great view over Vancouver with the two iconic bridges leading in to the city. If I am not mistaken, I have taken both bridges at least once.
On our last morning in Vancouver, before heading back to the airport, we where walking along the seafront from Coopers to David Lam park. There where some beautiful condos there.
have a great day

Wonderful panorama of the Vancouver seen from this small but picturesque harbour.
I can see the weather is excellent to take photos. Yesterday, it was rain in Warsaw :-(
but today I could see a bit of the Sun :-)
Coming back to your photo - The construction of the harbour is a little untypical - I mean the stones descending softly down to the water. Very good POV. TFS
Now, I go to bed and you probably wake up :-)
So. have a nice day!

To the master of the wide angle...bravo! :)
What a fantastic shot, something with immediate visual impact, undoubtedly the best use of lens for this location. This is quite reminiscent of that spot in Brooklyn, Fulton Park I believe, that sits between the two bridges with a view of the Manhattan skyline.
The big foreground curve just jumps out and grabs your attention right away, but then it leads to both sides of the frame where a lot of the detail and interest lies. A great sense of depth with this composition and effect. Even though you've broken the "vaunted" rule of thirds, I think this works very well having the city placed in the middle, opening up the foreground and sky to a greater degree.
Looks like the sun was trying to make an appearance off to the right, good job keeping it in check. Really great shot, get this to the tourist board! Enjoy your evening. Take it easy.

The wide angle lense creates a really interesting effect when shooting a skyline like this, it looks really cool. A great way to present the city too, all those towers solidly positioned between the two bridges. And a class reflection to boot too!
All the best

What a wonderful capture from VC. I think I haven`t seen this scene before. The shape of the water, the calm water surface and the reflections plays well together and are all great features here. Beautiful shot my friend:) TFS.
Have a great WE.
Best regards, Erling

I like the sweeping curve of the bay. At first glance this looked like cracked mud along a lake after a long drought but that is almost impossible in Raincouver, as it's affectionately known. Good reflections of the blue skylight and excellent sharpness and framing. Tfs!
adramad (48980) 2013-09-16 10:22
Spectacular composition, with the beauty of this bay we see rounded in the foreground, the beautiful view of the harbor full of boats and as colophon the magnificent skyline of the city with its towering modern buildings.
A very nice colors in natural tones.
Very good both sharpness, and brightness.
Enjoy a nice day.
All the best.

Nice pic ! The ultra wide angle lets us discover various aspects of Vancouver, from downtown to fishermen boats and marina. I understand why you like this place.

This is one fabulous shot that I missed when in Ireland Craig. I love everything about it. The scooped out curve in the Fg is so special a feature; it reminds me of a cupped hand holding the wider view. Excellent and I'm sure you are correct - Vancouver at its best! Have a great weekend Rosemary
