As a former Ice hockey player, I played as a goalkeeper, the 2010 Olympic winter games where of great interest to me.
The BC Stadium located north of False Creek was the iconic sight for the 2010 Olympic winter games in Vancouver. Both the opening and the closing ceremonies where held there, but no competitions where held there. For a long time I myself believed that is was the venue for the Ice hockey tournament ...... but alas it is a soccer stadium really.
This is a view in the waning light of early evening from atop the tower at the harbor center. The 360 degrees view over Vancouver from there is amazing and well worth the entry fee, especially so because one pays only once and can go up as many times as one wishes in one day. Perfect for say first some daylight shots than later come back for a night view

Oh, that is excellent, Daniel....
Great view, great lighting, scads of wonderful detail with very nice sharpness and clarity. I like how the busy road runs alongside the stadium and the tall building to the front. Ever so well done! That must be such a cool place to take photos from... Many thanks and kind regards,

Nice night panorama across this part of Vancouver. I like the orange glow coming out from the top edge of the stadium and the highway that snakes its way into the distance. Your a man after my own heart always looking for ways to get good value for money.

haha...YES...I have this shot in my collection as well.
Glad to see you made it up the Harbour Centre.
Great views up there, and even better views for the evening blue hour with a tripod...its amazing how clear the photo's can be even through that thick glass.
You're right about this stadium, its BC Place Stadium. But it's for the BC Lions Football team, not soccer.
Have there been soccer games played here? Yes, but only on occasion. Its the home of our Canadian Football League's BC Lions.
Our Vancouver Whitecaps Soccer team plays in an outdoor soccer stadium on Boundary Road - Boundary road is the 'boundary' between Vancouver and Burnaby.
Interesting history about this new rooftop of the BC Place Stadium...not sure if you're know of it or not.
But this roof is only about 1 year old.
BC Place Stadium had a teflon roof prior to that, and it was held up by airflow and vents, sort of like a tent but obviously much more sophisticated :)
And during a windy rain storm it ripped apart like a human tearing a piece of paper!!!!
It was debated long and hard about what NEW roof should be attached..and here it is. Its also retractable. So when its not raining in Vancouver (hardly ever) they will open the roof for the games.
And in the bg you have the Cambie Street Bridge. Another one of my favorite bridges to walk along and grab some photo's of the city.
love the trailing car lights you got here, and the red lights on the Stadium turned out super!!!
Glad you had the chance to see this view!

Stunning scene of the stadium and the city beyond, you have sold this view to me, and if I ever make it here, I will visit this and see this for myself. Te trails of traffic in the distance are a beautiful addition to the scene and I really love the overall red tones in the whole shot.
All the best

I love to see the clear separation of colors between the stunning vivid reds and the rest It's beautifully executed night shot taken from the elevated pov which has such enormous depth and space, the well placed significant subject is finely illuminated and blends into the night scene which adds to the total fascination of this shot. The compo works by having the diagonal for good lead to hold the frame together as well as good additional colours and lights The exposure is great that you coped so skillfully and pin sharp. A nice effort beautifully done, Congrats, TFS
