Photographer's Note
I thought I would head back to Vancouver for a photo or two, then I'll be back to Europe :)
This is the first time i re-visited the downtown Vancouver core since returning from that European vacation. Guess I felt like i didn't need to head downtown because I took so many new photo's :)
As my usual, I'm up out of bed super early to catch the morning light. I also get up early because it means a greater chance of less people in my architecture scenes! Sorry for all you people-lovers! But hey, I'm getting better at presenting the human side every now and then right? :)
For today, I post a shot of my favorite spot for photos, the Science World Expo 86 Exhibit. With a low POV, you can get down to the water level and take advantage of the dragon boats and water reflections.
I hope you like it.
Cheers

Hi Craig, The same is with me. I have so many new photos, so why should I go to the Old Town even if the autumn was in its best (it was, now we have snow). Splendid shot but for me too HDR-ish. But the symmetrical composition and sharpness are superb.
Warm regrads

Ciao Craig,
Non sono un grande estimatore Dell' HDR, ma devo dire che in questo caso sei riuscito a dare un'atmosfera molto suggestiva al paesaggio.
Molto bello il cielo ed il riflesso sull'acqua.

Hi Craig - I love your use of the WA lens, it has given incredible dynamism to the shot. Clouds, jetty and dragon boats all seems to radiate out from the geodesic dome. I like the HDR treatment, there is a wonderful softness to the colours and textures. Excellent shot and a pleasure to see. Warm regards rosemary

Good Morning Craig,
This wide-angled shot is so welcoming! The dragon boats appear to be arms, open wide to embrace visitors!
It is a fibe shot on so many levels: there is a great leading line, wonderful reflections, excellent, sharp exposure, fine composition and, finally, that sky is the icing on the cake! Great overall effect.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Gidday Craig
heheheh finally your silver balls make an appearance. I say "balls", because there are quite clearly two for the price of one here. And I'm delighted to hear that this excellent photo is the result of RAW processing. It really is a cut above your other HDR photos IMHO. The colours, the definition, the reflections...all stunningly beautiful. And those clouds, wow, you couldn't have paid for better ones.
Cheers and thanks for sharing

Hello Craig,
I can´t get enough of such brilliant HDR pictures.Malgo wrote it was a little bit too strong for her,but in my opinion it´s excellent and it suits perfectly especially to this kind of modern architecture like we see here.Fabulous view with so lovely reflections and really amazing looking cloud formations. You couldn´t have better conditions for this shot.Beautiful scene and great HDR treatment.

Hello Craig,
The image is very well composed and has a lovely balance to it. The light is quite superb and I love that cloud filled sky. Excellent colours and sharpness. See, even you can present pictures with no people in though I don't have to get up early:-) France is a relatively large country with relatively few people (around 60 million). There are so many small villages where you just don't find people on the street, even in the middle of the day.

Hi Craig,
Ah, ha, 10mm focal length this time! :)
Again, your wide "city" lens has done you proud as also has your fine HDR work in maintaining all the subtleties of light and shade and bringing out the very best of the features of that magnificent sky.
The light on the panels of that big sphere and the windows of the tall blocks on the left is magnificent as also are the reflections on the still water. Fabulous colours, perfect light and exposure and stunning sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi, my friend Craig,
the HDR treatment provides a great visual power at your composition, specially in the sky and the clouds.
Your effort on going up out of bed very early in order to catch the first daylight has given a great result, and though still there is no presence of people, the photo is very beautiful.
I like the graphical wealth of the architecture and the fantastic reflections on the water.
A beautiful composition, perfectly executed.

This is great, Craig - the dome suggests symmetry, but they're only hints - more often illusory than not, with the buildings ascending in height left to right, the different placement and color of the boats, the dock extending outward...
Great color and a wonderful morning sky give this a really peaceful, almost revelatory mood. Nice shot for me to come back to!

You're capturing well this waterfront by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see panoramic view of Vancouver downtown with the Science World Expo 86, other high buildings and some colorful boats. And, the reflection projected to the water draws out a good effect as well as the sky with random clouds.

Hi Craig,
Superb image, so much texture, light and balance. The reflection of the boats and the way they surround the dome is well mastered. Interestingly this is the location of the world expo before it was hosted by my home town of Brisbane in 1988. I have friends living in and visiting Vancouver at the moment and they have nothing but praise for this exciting and progressive place.
