Photographer's Note

Looking back into my personal gallery to find a photo to post, i thought i had already posted this photo, but forgot - so here it is now.

Its a view that perhaps you're a bit familiar with, its Downtown Vancouver, the photo taken from the 300 foot tall Harbour Centre, through thick panes of glass. It's the last few minutes of the evening Blue Hour, just enough time to get a couple more photos in.

Having lived here for 20 years now, it was my first time taking blue hour shots from inside this building! I look forward to doing it again soon.

As pleasing a shot as I have seen here for a while - lovely colours, lots of depth and of course lots of architecture. The lit bridge cables is a treat, gives the image real depth of interest.
All taken through glass - wow !

Hello Craig,

A superb blue hour shot of your gorgeous city, indeed, one of the 2-3 most beautiful in North America. I am getting excited about our visit in late June-early July, and again in late July. (Indeed, this shot is from July 27, 2011, I believe I will be there on July 27, 2012.) In the first trip we board a cruise ship. Any idea if the pier for cruise ships would be visible from this vantage point at Harbor Center?

Hello Craig,
Canadian buildings must keep their windows a lot cleaner than US ones. Most times when I want to take photos through a window there are dirty spots on it! ;-) You've captured another gorgeous blue hour scene. I like the sparkling bridge in the distance, the golden light on the street below, and the silky water.

I really enjoyed this one!
So many interesting and beautiful details to be seen!
Chosen pov, composition, vertical format, slim black borders, exposure and colors are superb features here!
The details in the lower fg can be so clearly seen... I love that! The background is no less attractive with the water surface, the bridge and the silhouettes of the mountains!

Hello Craig,

Like when I took a shot from my hotel window in London, I am amazed at what good quality can be achieved.
This really is a quality shot.
The composition, with the large buildings diagonally arranged in the f/g, counterbalanced by the lit bridge in the b/g, is excellent.
The details and the light are very attractive and their impact is heightened, set against the blue hour sky.

What I like Craig is the black background which subtly shows the bridge (Stanley Park?) The blue sky is complimenting in tones as is the water. The yellow lit road is also a bonus feature.
Great shot of one of the best Canadian cities.

Hi Craig,

This is a beautiful night cityscape, so it's intersting and impressive to see the skyscraper with the light in front side and the bay dyed to blue color. It's impressive in the residential area of the mountain's foot of the opposite shore which is blinking light, too. And, a ship sailing the bay and the suspension bridge which light blinks draw out additional good mood in this image. Well composed and good tone/clarity. Have a nice weekday!

Hi Craig!

One of the best places I've visited is Vancouver, I really loved it as the city offers picturesque views alongside with the urban scape. Though I stayed for a week, really haven't had much time to explore more of Vancouver. I guess I need to go back, and which reminds to post more of my shots from this charming city.

This is one beautiful blue hour image, love those yellow tones against the blue ones. The POV is simply wonderful as it gives us a nice view of that (forgot) bridge and some water too. Love the lighting and the sharpness. Top quality image, as always! well captured!
